I've had a bit of a change of plan with the hood scoop. I was going to create a raised section in the centre of the bonnet surrounding the scoop. So the hood stepped up about 1/4 inch surrounding the scoop. I did it like that in filler and put it on the van to see how it looked and I didn't like it.
Now I'm gonna smooth it in to the hood. I also decided to fill in the back of the scoop so it's a smoother line to the windscreen/ wiper cowl. I did this with some expanding builders foam which I shaped then laid some fibreglass over.
One more coat of filler tommorrow then putty, sanding and painting.

You can see below how it used to drop down fairly steeply at the rear of the scoop. I thought it made it look too much like a bolt on ricer special.

And here's the mesh I put underneath to keep out leaves etc. I made some plastic frames and used the mesh for strengthening bondo work. All those bolts are holding the scoop down nice and solid.

Quick question, where did you find that scoop? It looks GREAT!

I love what your doing with the van and I totally agree that the scoop needed to be moulded into the hood and not just plunked on top. As a side bar I just noticed that you are in Ireland, I'll be moving to Dublin for a bit in September and depending on where you are located it would be great to meet some vanners over there.

Needs a van badly...willing to take a free one just ask ;)

There are only a handful of vanners in Ireland, well maybe that should be custom van fans as there are no real van-ins unless you count the VW camper ones. I work in south Dublin and live just outside Dublin in Greystones Co Wicklow.
What part of Dublin are you moving to? It’d be great to hook up when you’re over. Is there any info you need before you get here? I’ll PM you my contact details.

Shaggy.
