| | | Any good threads with some pics showing molded in fender flares???? | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 107 member | OP member Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 107 | I noticed on some of the bolt on flares, they really just come almost strait out from the body, and I've always kinda liked a more buldging fender flare look. Always really dug the old 70's Vette fender flares, and have seen that style on a handful of 70's camaro's and loved it. When I was looking at pics of other vans, I noted a handful of vans with molded in fender flares, which started above the original wheel well opening, and looked pretty sweet. Was just figuring there have to be yet more pics, and possibly even someone showing doing it to their van. Would sure love to at the least see some more pics. Not sure if I will go that route, but I'm going to seriously think about it. I assume I'd still need to start with bolt-on flares, and work from that starting point.

I'm continuing to consider the options. May just mold in some glass ones, but am still considering custom steel options. Need to naturally wait till I have the wheels/tires nailed down and mounted. I've always kinda liked styles similar to L88 vette flares. Basically bigger than simply molding in glass bolt on flares, but not quite as big as the custom steel ones in your pic above. Kinda in between.

You would almost have to make your own molds to come up with the shape you want, steel ones can be made as big or as little as you want but take more fabrication skills. We got lucky that our first set of wheels filled our our flares nicely and then when we had the latest wheels made up we had them custom made to make sure they filled out the flare the way we wanted to since most wheels now adays are made for front wheel drive and do not have the deep dish. Some pictures of our fiberglass molded flares: | | | Re: Any good threads with some pics showing molded in fender flares???? | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 107 member | OP member Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 107 | I hear ya on the flares. Especially molding in, bolt-on types. That flat on top look is something I'd like to slightly deviate from. If not really deviate from. Seems I could be headed for custom flares.
By the way, dig the van. Killer wheels, paint, etc.
