The window regulators (manual) in my 77 are in pretty bad shape. On the driver side one of the rollers keeps popping out of the track. Theoretically I can just replace the roller but I am not sure which part number to order. Anyone ever done this? Should I just replace the entire regulator? How hard would it be to convert to power regulators?

Go to the junkyard and get all the power window stuff out of a Chev van. Grab the door lock stuff, too. Pretty straightforward swap.

thanks! Does the year matter? I thought they made changes at some point. There are no old vans in the yards around here.

power became available in 78. The door shells are slightly different, but it all works. The doors are the same in all the 78-95 vans.

So if I can get the parts from a newer van they should bolt in with little to no mods?

Has anyone swapped out the rollers? I'd like to do that to have a working window while I look for a donor.

They will fit all the way to 1995. The biggest difference in the doors has to do with the late model door inside panel has an indented hole for the mirror support your door won't have(not that this matters here). But to fit the regulator you only will need to drill 2 new holes further foward up the slot where your current regulator shaft comes out of. Placement and opening is all the same.

I found a guy parting out a late 80s conversion van and bought the power window and lock parts. I got the regulators, motors, solenoids, switches and the wire harness. I think I got everything but am not 100% sure.

I have a couple questions so far:

1) In the last photo I am showing the wiring from under the dash. Does anyone know if I am missing a fuse box or relay?

2) I connected the harness up and have several wires I am not sure what to do with:

Black
Pink
Orange/Red with a black stripe
2 sets of tan and white
1 set or tan and gray

I am assuming the pink, orange and black are power switched power and ground. If so what do the others do? Back door lock wires? Dome light?

3) Is the regulator roller track that the window sits on the same on both van? It looks like the power track is bigger but the donor van pieces are rusted out.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I did some checking on a Chevy truck board and am pretty sure I was right about the pink orange and black wires:

Pink is switched power for the windows
Orange is constant hot for the locks
Black is ground

I plan to run 30amp fuses on the power leads. Or maybe a breaker and relay arrangement.

I think perhaps the gray and brown are for the rear door locks and maybe the tan and white are for the dome light somehow?

Gray and brown are the door locks. Orange is constant hot for dome lights, the ground(white) is switched.
