Allowing this class would encourage people with not quite show ready vans to participate...even if there was only a first through 5th place for all UC, regardless of make.

This will also give those wanting to do stuff to their vans, a chance to see what steps are taken to build them up... smile

I think it goes against the very nature of vanning to not allow under construction vans into the show. Vans are all about building something that is your very own and putting your van out there to show other vanners what you are up to and to trade ideas, even at the best of the best show of the year is what it's all about, or at least thats the impression I have received.

I go to Truck-ins. How about you?

The under construction class is at the discretion of the hosts. If they want to give more than one award, GREAT! With the current flurry of activity and new vanners arriving on the scene at every event, we would be shooting ourselves in the foot if we denied someone the right to show their van. When you pay your gate fee, you are eligible to participate in all the activities of the event. If we tell someone they can't show, why should they pay full price? If they are building their van and want to show off their work, why not?
Several times recently, we have strongly suggested to the hosts that they award a construction trophy to a deserving vanner.

Encouraging vanners to build custom vans is important to the future of vanning. Not everyone wants to put their unfinished van on display but for those willing they will likely get some good pointers from others on how to go about finishing them and inspire others to finish their long term projects or start their own.
Having all the unfinished vans in the same area would be good and having this group of vans going for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd award might be a good idea.
