Right now, I'm primarily into metal and hardcore. I listen to all forms of music, and repsect it all (after all, I am a musician myself) but my favorite is the extreme stuff.
Right now I got a CD of this one band from Quebec, Canada, called Ion Dissonance in my van's CD player. It's a very extreme mix of grindcore, jazz fusion, and hardcore that some have dubbed it "mathcore" due to the complexity of the riffs and timing in their music.

Definitely not the type of music to listen to for the faint of heart, but is great if you're used to listening to such death metal classics as Cannibal Corpse, Death, and Morbid Angel.

I personally like to play this type of music in my van, because it fits the name I gave it (Doomsayer) and both me and my van's personality. I love to think my van is the bringer of death on the road, and it shall smite all who oppose it. Lol!

Also, if anyone was wondering what a Doomsayer is, it's someone who speaks of misfortune, pain, suffering, and pretty much the apocalypse in general. It's also the opposite of a Soothsayer.

So what types of music do you all listen to in your van, and do you play it in accordance to both you and your van's personality, or do you just listen to whatever you like?

I love heavy black metal (the heavy melodic stuff, not the screaming stuff) and some 80's metal, but in the van I usually listen to 50's and 60's music, lots of blues. Takes me back in time, I feel like I'm driving the van in the era it was born. Though since I put 2 10" subs and a 400 watt amp in the rear I cant help putting the metal on once in a while [Big Grin] [ December 06, 2005, 12:57 AM: Message edited by: HotRodKush ]

I really like any music except disco stuff. It depends on the mood I'm in. I listen to everything from The Animals to Linken Park, Tim McGraw to Live, Kid Rock to Yanni. If you really want to have some fun, Pull up next to some kid thumpen in his honda then drowned him out with Yanni. I'v done it, It's quite fun.

I love to listen to anything that takes talent. People like Linkin Park who can't play/sing in tune live don't make it into my CD collection. Currently I have the Victor Wooten live in america disc two in my CD player. My CD's range from Nevermore to Jaco Pastorios to Stevie Ray to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Metallica to Cannible Corps to ZZ Top. I've got a little of everything.I will say I primarily listen to metal, blues, classic rock and jazz.

Usually any type of rock, industrial, electronica, drum and bass stuff. Anything from Led Zepplin to Marilyn Manson. Motley Crue to Prodigy. ZZ Top to NIN...then some Rob Zombie. KMFDM is some good drivin' music too, haha. If ya see me drivin' around, Im usually rockin' out to something loud. [Big Grin] [ December 06, 2005, 07:36 AM: Message edited by: monsterbox ]

I tend to have some strange tastes musically,
I listen to alot of instrumental, experimental electronic stuff, but it doesnt stop there...

on rotation this week...

Autechre (wierd electronic)
Siouxsie and the Banshees (80s punk/new wave)
Led Zepplin -do I need to explain!?
Sandoz/Richard Kirk (more electronic)
the Ramones -rock &roll/US punk
Emperor- black metal (the screamy stuff)
Mercyless Absurdity -this is my own current musical project, very noisy and gratuitous.
If you dare, you can download some tracks.. here

I am also a fan of talent, although tastes may vary I respect anyone who writes there own stuff.

being involved with electronic music, I often get the DJ reference, but I make all my own sounds and beats and such from scratch,
NO SAMPLES of other peoples music are incorperated into mine, and although it may be debatable as to how "good" it is, it's 100% MINE.

anyways...
It's all about the mood... and life has many-
so an assortment of music is needed
(for me at least)

keep on truckin/rockin!

Well, this summer the music i mostly listend to was Edelbrock 600 and the 318. (feat. the california turbos) lol! Actually i didn't have my stereo on much cuz it's currently got a wonky connection in it and the passenger side cuts out quite frequently, and i need a new system...besides, i'm inlove with the sound of my van. [Smile] My musical tastes are all over the place tho, but no rap, dance, or modern country. I don't listen to the angry stuff anymore either.

I too will listen to nearly anything. Hardest to listen to was kids musak, sung my munckins.

The CD player in the van usually has Rob Zombie (who'da thunk) Metalica, Sytem of a Down, Disturbed or Godsmack!

Deep Sleep, did that one time in a buddy car after installing a new 3000 watt stereo with Bethovens Fifth Symphony! I was waiting for the glass to blow out. It sounded GREAT though!
