The front tires on Glory Days are 6 years old this spring and still look new. I do not know the reality of this but there are a lot of vanners out there storing the vans for years and also driving on older tires. http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4826897

Put new fronts on the van and one broke apart within a year. Good thing I was not going fast because it would have ripped off my molded flares.
Note for all of us that are looking for those hard to find tire sizes that the tire companies no longer want to make. If you track a set down they may have been on the shelf for a while.

I have had 10 yr old tires on a car before.. actually, I had, in Texas, a 1963 Buick wildcat with it's FIRST ever set of replacement tires still on it.. they had to be from 1968 or 9 if i remember right.. they held the car up for over 5 years under a tree.. we brought it home on a flat bed.. I drove it the next day up the street to the gas station and filled it up.. drove it home.. in the morning, all 4 were flat.. It also had the original 1963 date coded TOYO spare tire still on the rim and looked as if it came out of the showroom like that.. Pep Boys had a similarly styled tire with white wall for $99 for 4.. had those put on immediately.
Anyways, I have also had tires not even last 2 years before breaking down.. sooooo.. Just get a warranty with your tires... I just put on 2 new ones on the front of my van.. the backs and the old fronts are over 6 yrs old and don;t hold air past 3 weeks anymore.. But yeah.. rule of thumb is 5 years from date of manufacture.. weather you drive on them or not..
Yeah..... I know I know.... It's NOT a van... But if you squint, It could be a REALLY long van? | | | Re: Check your tires! Check it out for your own safety! B.W.

They won't be BF Goodrich.
