Coed Jumps From Moving Fake Cop Car

A New York City coed was recovering Thursday after managing to jump from a moving vehicle while handcuffed by a fake law enforcement officer.

The unidentified 19-year-old told police she was walking home from classes about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when a man wearing a dark blue jacket and cap each imprinted with Fugitive Enforcement in yellow letters stepped out of an old blue van. He demanded to see her identification, then suddenly grabbed her, handcuffed her and threw her in the back of his vehicle, the New York Daily News reported.

Two witnesses said they heard the van's tires screeching around a corner just as the woman kicked out a door and tumbled out onto the road, screaming for help.

Police removed the handcuffs and took her to a hospital for treatment of facial lacerations from the fall.

The investigation continued Thursday.

for some reason, the scary van idea is very prevailent with some folks I've run into in the last 8-ish years. I'll tell people Im a van nut and their like "you've got a molester-van!?" I was telling someone recently about wanting a windowless astro and they said "you mean.. rapist-style?" this was very offensive to me!
I dont know where this came from, probably TV.
I never had such connotations with vans, at any age. I never had vanner parents, relatives, neighbors or friends but always had ideas,strong
with overtones of sex, drugs, and rockin' .... all in a VERY consentual context!!! and an excitement for piloting such a magnificent beast of a mobile suite! (my girlfriend would say that's because Im a scorpio)
I have also heard some comments regarding vans largely being enviromentally and politically irresponsible for their gas useage, which is a more difficult and touchy issue.

I think this is changing for the better again now though because many teenagers seem to have higher
and more light-hearted opinions of vans.

I think that as long as those who are deeply involved in vanning remain to be as outstandingly genuine and all-around nice folk as most of you,
the image of vanning cannot go too far south,
and I think that the very existence of this site
IS causing a revival of van intrest.

I just hope that vanning never goes the "thug" route because I think this would be worse than
being specifically unpopular.

Well, I have to say that as a criminal defense attorney, in my experience panel vans or vans with few windows do seem the be the vehicle of choice for rapists, kidnappers, and serial killers. You don't even want to think about what Robert Yates did in the back of his van.....

the best intimidating sign i have ever seen on a van was
"don't laugh at it..your daughter could be in here"
..guess stories like the above show the darker side of the versitility of vans
movies havn't helped much either
just once i'd like to see the hero ride off into the sunset with the pretty girl IN A VAN !

So when an elderly person mentions wanting a caddy or big buick, just say "oh, you want a pimp mobile, or slap a hoe ride."
