Thought I would bring this back to the top. Here's a pic of the 454 in my 72 shorty. I drove it the 13th of Dec & noticed alot of water coming out of the drivers side exhaust. Didn't think much of it. Tried to start it on New Years eve & the engine was locked up. Today I pulled out the plugs on the drivers side & #7 cylinder was full of water. Pulled all the plugs & it still wouldn't turn over. Rings must be rusted.
Anyways, I started tearing it down. Not sure if I can get the drivers side head off in the van. Not much room. Darn bigblock! Great way to start the new year.:( Brad

Well, I continued work on van today. After I pulled the starter, I was able to turn the engine over by hand. Starter must have been stuck. I was able to get the drivers head off with the engine in the van. Not saying it was easy, but it can be done. I couldn't really see anything wrong with the gasket, but the engine has been together for 24 years. Just hoping the head or the engine block isn't cracked somewhere.
Will pull the other head off & get them both checked. Oh what fun. Brad [Linked Image]
