I dont remember ever seeing them when I was younger (remember, the Caravan came out about the same time I was born!), but I've seen quite a few lately at the PNP, but only in Voyaguer models, not Caravan.

Have seen a few conversion caravans. Now I'm trying to remember something with my old 2000 caravan. It didn't have the quad captains, and I think the middle bench seat, might have reclined. I just can't recall. The one i have now, has the quad captains, and they all recline flat, so you could use as a single bed, but it puts alot of strain on the back part, when flat, with alot of weight in that area. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | These ones looked very similar in shape to what I have in my shorty and are mounted in the centre seating position, looks like they would have filled most of the back when unfolded into a bed.

You can get small tri-folds, aftermarket. They open up in 3 sections, obviously. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | A trifold would describe it perfectly. They all looked the same in the Voyageurs I saw. I didnt ecamine them closely to tell if it was the same factory cloth as the rest, kind of far to go to take another look and I cant leave town this weekend, but I can check them out more closely next time I go, they seemed common enough so I have no doubt there will still be some there.

I've been lookin for one of those for a few weeks now, with no luck at all. WHERE are you seein these things? I need a blue one!!!
They are a factory option, it's listed in the owners manual of my 88 caravan, and it's called "convertabed". Apparently it "fold easily into a spacious bed".
Oh, and apparently it was only available in the short wheelbase 5 passenger ones. It didnt work with the 3 rows of seats. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | yes it was only a 5 passenger, the bed takes most of the rear. The groupe of them that I saw were in Edmonton, a bit over 3 hours drive from me but they were all tan in colour. I'm pretty certain we have a member or two in Edmonton...

You say they're at pick n pull? I'm cool with it being tan. LOL.
I'm only an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours, from Edmonton. Close enough to run and grab one, but too far to drive for nothing. LOL.

I'm going there tomorrow to pull an s-10's tranny for for a co-worker, if they happen to have any and if I have any space left in my van do you want me to pick one up for you? I probably cant drop it off if I do, but you'd be welcome to come to cold lake for it! I dont know what years of seats interchange in the chrysler mini's, but this was in the late 80's, early 90's squareish model. Let me know by the end of today as I'm leaving early in the morning.

There was more in some of the conversion vans, but it was getting really really cold. I'll probably be there again next weekened or the one after, so if you need anything, I can watch for it! | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | I never really NEED anything, I see things I like and I grab em lol.

I guess your van is a bunch newer than either of mine.... then again, i usually just like to get stuff that I don't really "need" anyway..... that bed is a prime example, as is an overhead console. LOL. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 211 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 211 | Wow. I went to the Edmonton pick n pull yesterday for the first time ever. It was AWESOME. Beats the hell out of the one in Calgary anyway. Not too much fullsize van stuff, but lots of caravans, the old ones too, with blue interiors even!!! And I found an intercooler for my lancer. Amazing place. I'll be there again for sure. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | yes, it has quite a selection, as for full sized vans though it seems to be mostly gm's and fords. Once in a while they get very awesome vehicles but it doesn't take long before somebody snags all the good stuff. Last time I checked there still were no rear beds, I guess they just all came in at once and disappeared at once lol
