I'm after a Norcal rear spoiler, and hood scoop. I like the ones trucknvans do, but still keeping my options open. Got my flares from trucknvans, and their shop is an hour from the Kiwi base camp, for getting to NZ. So same would apply to anything I got from Hank, just have to get it to Kiwi base camp in Cali. Also have been considering gull winging my slider.

That's what Spider told me years ago when I asked him if he could make Gullwings for the new style Fords.
This being said he told me that it would prolly cost around $5k to make a mold. That is why my gullwing and clamshell are all steel! | | | Re: Hanks Fiberglass | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 6,502 Li'l Blue Wagon | Li'l Blue Wagon Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 6,502 | Thats a good reason. It would be worthwhile if you had a handful of vanners that all wanted the same part, IE. a f/g gull. It is way past time that we get Showcars on our side. Please pm me all the problems you have had with Showcars and Doc and I will pay them a friendly visit once he gets back from his latest tour. We're also going to be trying to get another person up here who has fiberglass molds on the right track. It sure would be nice to get all the molds in the hands of a vanner friendly person like Hank. It would be good if we had a list of the inventory of molds that each of the fiberglass makers have. I would be happy to put that on the showvans site. It would be good for business as well for people like Hank who does not have a website. | | | Re: Hanks Fiberglass | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 6,115 | OP Joined: May 2003 Posts: 6,115 | i know of no problems with showcars other than lack of communication (from what i've heard over and over from vanners) showcars once called me though and asked for Hanks number lol ... not sure what that was about but i gave it to em and asked that they stay in contact ... they never have and the last time i talked to hank they didn't call him either... | | | Re: Hanks Fiberglass | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | Unfortunatly..... I am being bruatally honest here..... I think It's the lack of business more than any thing else. One or two sets of flares a visor or a door or two a year is just not enough work to keep ether of these guys making products for vans. Even with the molds making these parts is very labor intesive. Not to mention the rising cost of materials....

One of the most popular ways to do them was to build a frame out of 1/2" electrical conduit and then cover with sheet metal. Now we're talking fun stuff! | | | Re: Hanks Fiberglass | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 3,473 Likes: 1 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 3,473 Likes: 1 | I was wondering , I heard a rumor that hank had the old J&J molds and I would very much like to find out who has them . My brother works on 'vettes some and is good with glass but not at this kind of level. I prefer good ole steel, I guess it's what you learn to work with. The last time I mixed up an 'glass was to patch a soft spot in the floor,,,,of my bathroom! I am torn between flares, visor and such and running clean. Both ways look really good when done properly. I guess I need two vans huh?

With those flares you have to have some really big tires in the back so they don't get swollowed up. I also found out that the holes in the front spoiler are to let air pass through for the brakes.(Nascar style!) I always thought that lights went there.

I have run fogs there in the past and still might again. I think it's a good place and never had a problem with brakes when I had lights down there. ...Just dont tuck them in real tight...

Notice it is subtly wider and has a dipped in curve to it. And the rear flares on this Ford. I know I'd need custom made to get them. | | | Re: Hanks Fiberglass | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 2,254 veteran | veteran Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 2,254 | I wonder if he can make the front flares like this Dodge has. I was so enthralled by it I never took notice to it being a Chevy.
The rear custom lights reminded me of Ford ones. Never looked at the nose.

That sounds like a GREAT idea

Best to call his cell number. He is still making parts for older vans. Not attending any more shows but will make up whatever you want. Nothing for the newer vans. Anyway i plan on going up to seeing him next month.
