This is not a commercial. Since '96 I have been tracking all the money which goes to my vehicles. Oh boy, I could pay back my house loan with that money I´ve been spending to "personal transportation".... [Cool] [Cool] Wanted to share this for you all, if you are interested to track how do you spend your money.... Nice and even to me "easy-to-use"-program. I used to drag race, and I got depressed every time I thought of all the money I blew on the car...It was a lot of fun though....NO REGRETS...

I keep track of maintenance in my head, never think about what it costs. Doesn't really matter to me.

OK, no regrets. Maybe this could help someone else, who wonders where all the money is going... [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!]

I've finally gotten smart. I'm opening "Showstomper Vans", which I can use as a legit business and I can write off all of my van expenses (Truck ins, drag racing, parts, ect.) I made so much off selling parts last year, plus I have to pay my own taxes on the money I make when I work for my dad (who will just write the checks out to "Showstomper" instead of me), I can run vanning like an actual business!

Sounds good.. Just be careful, IRS has guidelines that may classify you as a "hobby" not a "business" (based upon the profits or losses you declare, as well as other factors..)

Also if you run it as a propriotership, you can still legally have the checks made out to you personally, and not the business name. This way you can cash the checks, rather than deposit them and have the IRS know about every bit of income you make.

But anyways.. good luck with your venture!

Just my "self-employed" 2 cents..

I have a checking account in that name, so it's legit. And you can claim a loss for 5 yrs. My dad does the same thing with his drag racing. Since I do have income coming in, it's not just a hobby.

I did that also when I used to Drag Race, It sucked when I had to claim banktrupsy, but it was only the company, not my personal stuff. Drag racing is just way too expensive.

I keep all of my repair recipts, along with oil changes, but don't look at them, you can't focus on it, all vehicles cost money.

We keep all receipts for repairs, preventitve maintainance, stuff to buy to look good etc,but I dont Tally them anymore. I used to keep track of every cent that went into the Ford Chop Top Van but when that figure got really up there that is when I quit adding it up,but still keep the receipts for reference. I dont keep track of money spent on gas cause that is way up there, I spent $250 for 2 tires for the V/8 Astro today, dont know why the rear tires wear out so quick.LOL

It doesnt matter what I spend on my toys ... even if gas hits $10 a gal Ill still drive my 454 ... Im like Ken I keep the cost in my head, so I can forget when I put out a big stack to get some thing fixed ...lol or for new stereo equip. Just hook your van up to your ATM card N do it ! ....lol

I still pay way less for my vans than a person that just got a new one, less reg, less ins AND NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS !

It's not a great idea to keep track of how much you have into a vehicle unless you are keeping records for an appraised insurance policy or something.. The more I think about the $ spent, the more depressing it gets lol.
