i always say your van name will find it's self lately been pondering ideas for theme and name for my 65 chop as it gets closer to pounding on some pavement just tossing some ideas around.... - Seventh Van of the Seventh Van (always been an iron maiden fan) (and the parts trail is about right lol) - Double Vision (when completed you'll understand with pics ;) ) - i have a couple others written down someplace here -next edition of the mag i'd like to do a list of van names if anyone wants to get involved with that project over the next season-

(parts), 1969 A-108 family wagon(project gasser),88 ramvan shorty V6 5spd, 84 4x4 silverado shortbed, 79 coupe deville, 93 cad STS, 74 F350 flatbed, and 3 toy tercel 4x in a fir tree...
As most of you know the Native Americans would observe a person for a year before they would gift them with a name that was fitting the persons life.
For instance say we have a young warrior in the village that fears nothing but soap and water, we may give him the name of Mighty skunk.
So I'd like to think that when my van is done I will take some time before giving her a name, I just pray that "Leaks the black stuff" isn't in the cards!
Storm-Port..?...Riding The Storm Out...?...After The Storm...?....Green Mona Lisa....?......You will figure it out when U step back and look..................Ghetto Rat Be Me
in all honesty I have never needed help naming a vehicle. it has always just came to me. one of those head clear moments. my van is sluggo. he is an old lumbering Ox, not much to look at but is always there for ya. sluggo....
one of my motorcycles is "the jail bird" its a honda Nighthawk that I bought as an unclaimed impound from a tow company. Impound = jail, nighthawk = bird. jailbird....
Ivan from up this way built or at least painted a 2nd gen Chevy called Visions ... Double Vision would be a cool name. No idea what happened to this van, this picture is from 1979:
Eric, how about "Tunnel Vision","mailbox","squinty" LOL! "Duck!" "Headspace", "Raise the Roof", "Whiplash", "migrane"/"My Grain" "flat-top", "buzz" "short bus" Ha ha ha, this is fun!
i know pics would help... i'll soon share -there are at least 11 no more than 13 mods going into my 65 (couple ideas may develop into a couple others) i kind of like the Double Vision name because of a couple of the mods will really fit ;) but as it gets closer to primer,i'm sure it'll let us know what it should be called.. hopefully it won't be called anything bad like i've been yelling at it lately lol -i'd like to know what happend to the -visions- van,any way of finding out Doug? that pic been around a long time, we need some new ones ;)
I'm a Leo. I sort of collct lion stuff around the house. In 92 I had a lion head air brushed on my tire cover. I've got some gold lion heads on the dash. In 98 I came across "The Colonel" at a truck-in in Missouri. Had him etch lion heads on my vent windows. Went to Nationals in New York in 2000. There's the Colonel again. Had hi do lions leaping out of the corners of my back bay windows. Pretty much been "Lionvan" since then.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! keep em comin!!!! I still have not decided on one... Storm-Port..?...Riding The Storm Out...?...After The Storm...?....Green Mona Lisa....?..Pooffevanlightenhouser "on the rocks", "the sentinel","guardian","cyclops","the Warning"."Early GPS"? the light house. Vantastic Beacon ,Tsunami ,Safe Harbour. Heavenly Beacon, guiding light ...............More more! I will have a desision made by truck'in time... :-)
You just stand back and look at it, then you go for long ride with stereo blastin, You will come up with a name!!! Because drivin a cool Van, isnt a ride, it's an experience!!!!
My van doesn't leak, it just likes to mark alot of territory.lol

We too will be looking for a name soon. I am hoping it comes in a moment, usually how it works for me. Such a big decision though. Maybe Driving Light for the lighthouse theme, thats my contribution, good luck.
I had tossed around a lot of name ideas when I first got my van... wanted something cool... toyed with the idea of "dark passions" for a brief time, then the whole UFO thing happened and it was dubbed "area 51" for a while.
I'm a big Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy van, and have some etching on one of my windows as a tribute, and intend on adding some more. underneath all that grey primer, my van is gold (original color) so I like to refer to it as "the heart of gold", which was the name of the spaceship in the Guide that they cruised around in.

Haha. Old thread resurrection. I've been to a couple of van name ceremonies .....(usually starts with a safety meeting). There's a thread somewhere by Preacher (IIRC) that details the ceremony and ritual.

My van was named Fatal Attraction back in the 70's by the original builder. It then went to a second owner before I got it. I found out the original name and I am going to keep that name
I've had my van for more than 11 years now and it still doesn't have an official name, but it's unofficial name is Brown Sugar. Been told it's maybe not a good choice in today's society.

Balls to that, Brown Sugar is always a good nickname.

I agree. If we keep this PC nonsense up, soon we won't be able to say anything about anything.

The van I just finished is named Fatal Attraction (was named that back in the 70's and I have just kept the name). The chopped van I am building is named Vandemic because I started the chop process in January 2020 at the onset of the pandemic.
74ChevyVan. Saw the Darkside of the Moon Tour in 1974 in Los Angeles CA. PHENOMINAL !!! ( I have a 1974G10 Shorty also;.......a very far cry from yours = you have a primo looking van)
Thanks Mickey. Regrettably I never saw Floyd. Best I've done is Brit Floyd. After doing this one I would have liked a shorty. I'll try to show the inside with a YouTube video. 5:15-5;20 shows the inside. Love classic rock!
I've been blessed and rocked hard from 1969-1982 and seen so many GREAT Rock Legends multiple times LIVE. At work; can't wait to see the video when I get home. Thanks
