I'm going to be recovering the dashboard in my 1985 G20 while it's out of the vehicle. It's currently blue and the stock vinyl is old and cracking. I want to remove as much of the old covering as possible and wrap it in black leather, maybe something diamond stitched.

I think I have watched enough youtube tutorials to give me the confidence I need to try it on my own, but was wondering if anyone has done this with the later 3rd gen Chevy dash and might share some pictures of the completed project and maybe during? It seems mostly flat and simple, but I am stressing about the leading edge around the defroster vents. Not sure how best to handle the complex area there. Maybe cut the leather short and add some stainless or chrome vent covers? I've got a couple ideas bouncing around in my head but want to see what others have done.

I know I should probably start with an easier piece to learn on, but this is the first one I need done..
