Hey Ronnie you missed it, wish ya were there, woulda put a smile on your face for sure. Nice to meet you there Wally, I also heard a rumor that there was an impromptu "photo shoot" at a certain clubs site right after the shoot for the mag, guess we'll have to wait and see if any truth or pics comes from it, maybe Astro can help with that. Nats were great, except for the Sat. storms, but still a great run put on by a great group of hardworking folks.
535 vans attended 157 in show and shine. missed a good one. but at least you missed that downfall of rain on Saturday night. 2 hours of downfall rain. We measured it a 5" of rain when all said and gone.
Nice pic Rollie ! Yes you had to be there ... The photo ops on Saturday were too much ! I was parked beside Karson, he is a great guy, hope to see him again soon, maybe in Detroit. Here's a shot of ours vans together. Check out of my new grille, lol
Mary was a very good sport about all of this and mentioned to me today that she hopes to defend her title next year.
I was on the gate when Karson Racing rolled in and she was bummed that there was electric at the grounds.... because she had gone out and bought a 12vdc flat iron! Now that's dedication. Plus they drove through the night and arrived at 4am just to get there. Great bunch of folks for the 15 minutes I got to chat with them. Not bad to look at either. Check out their youtube vids... that van is fast... and its a chevy.
This was just added to the DropJaw forum on the Nationals from Glenns brother. Lets keep up the support and they will highlight our hobby!
I have to come up here and speak a little piece about what I have learned about the Vannin world since Glenn and ROD came back. I am Glenn's brother that runs the company with him and I have heard about this Vannin deal for the past few weeks from these guys. You guys have inspired us just as much as our coverage inspired the 'sport'. It is amazing to see the passion and drive that you guys have for your vans....it is the same passion and drive that we have for DropJaw and custom vehicles as a group. I wanted to take the time to thank every one of you guys that have subscribed to the magazine and also take the time to thank you for inviting us into your world. It shows us a different side of things and it is much needed for us. You guys keep Truckin' and we will keep doing what we do. Hopefully we will meet up more in the future. Thanks for everything!
That is good news. Todd has been in regular contact with Glenn and has worked a deal to send them coverage from Altruk's Super Somer. Do get your subscriptions in to Dropjaw !
I'll try to finish up my Dropjaw photoshoot video featuring Mary this weekend.
I have been in touch with Glen via E mail...Here is part of thye most recent one he sent me:
whats happening howard...sorry about the magazine that you received. the way we have this set up is when we receive a subscription, they get the one that is out at the time...which would be the one you got. i had told everyone that they would be getting the newest one coming out in a few weeks with the vannin article in it without knowing how we usually do it. i dont handle anything with that so unfortunately the first few of you guys that ordered subscriptions got the one that is out now. i did tell my brother that i had told everyone that they would get the vannin one first so after that he started making notes. i will get it straight for you though...either i will send you an extra issue after your subscription is over or just give you one the next time i see ya. i am glad that you guys liked the coverage and it irks me bad that i cant get out to more van runs than i am able to...but i have been looking at dates and at least trying to. its just so hard with all the shows that normally go to. still talking to everyone about my experience though....cant get it off my mind. cant wait to get back. you guys hold it down and i will be for sure seeing you in the future. keep vannin'
DropJaw Glenn vanner for life
I said to him that we were still on his mind, despite the fact he has returned to "the other side" and their shows. I may take a ride to St. Louis this weekend to see what their shows are like.
