a friend has a 1971 econoline with a 302 auto,won't start,turn the key and the light comes on but no noise from the starter and selinoid, have changed the starter and nothing,is there a nuetral safety switch somewhere or any other things that i should check,funny thing it started 6 hours before this happened,any help would be greatly appriciated,Thanks for any help. curse

The sillynoid ( how ever it spelled ) could be bad too, they are separate on fords.

Neutral Start Switch. Replace it. It is located on the side of the transmission. In the interim, try starting the van in neutral.

You can jump the solenoid with a screwdriver to see if that's the problem,,,, was on my Ford dump truck the other day Joe...
