Found this 94 g10/g15 shorty in Kentucky. Drove the 270 miles up there yesterday to pick it up. Made it home just fine. Air is currently out, so it was a hot and loud ride home. It is a cargo but still has power everything and tilt/cruise. Gonna be doing the muscle van route (A-Team style)with spoilers and wing. side pipes.
the logo from the previous company left a little discoloration and they sanded off the phone number on the other side. otherwise paint is good. there's a touch of rust in the wheel wells. Ladder rack comes off and goes right to craigslist tomorrow.
Looks good. Nice, clean and straight.
Hmmmmm...who ever ordered that got all the options including the deluxe grille set up. Nice score!
Very nice find...if your plans don't work out call me. I'll walk down same day and get it.
Looks familiar!
Any idea if this yours is a factory color or something custom? I had originally thought that the previous owner of my van had re-sprayed it with a custom color, but seeing yours has got me thinking...
Look at mine, See what I mean? Same color. Or at least really similar... If yours is a factory color, mind providing me with the color code?
I think ive seen a few this color, pretty sure that one is factory. :dunno:
Pretty sure it's a factory color. I had a 95 that was that color and silver. Took the racks and the emblems today. Tried to get the air working. Was told by previous owner it just needed a new switch. So I switched it with a different one and still can't get it to blow.
Very nice. Looks like it was takin care of.
Looks very nice, especially for a '94. And a nice color.
Maybe a hint about the air: We were told we need a new switch as well, however, a local store we just happened to stop by told us that a low level of freon might cause that. They put a bit into the system and it worked right away.
Of course, there could be tons of other reasons why the air is not working.
Greetings!
That may be it. I was told he loosened the hose to the compressor to change the water pump. So there is no freon in it at all. I figured it would at least blow vent or heat
how bad is the paint from the decal removal? May be able to sand it with 2000 grit and buff it out. Looks great without the ladder racks.
looks great.....
<jealous
I am hoping it buffs out. they sanded the phone number off the other side though
Maybe use that space for a two tone design...or graphics?
Congratulations on the van!
You have a great base for creating a killer custom van there
Here, a quick shop chop....Porthole for us Dodge fellers
Thats a cool lookin paint scheme. Those portholes dont look rite on a chevy though.lol. To me anyway. They always remind me of chrysler.
Lol, thats the joke man! hahaha
Yeah i seen that under the pic after i hit submit. Oops.lol
hahaha...quick catch though!
yeah, no portholes for me. looks cool though. I figure if it doesn't buff out I'll just get it sprayed over when i get the flares and spoilers painted. It's got good enough paint to cruise now though.
O hell yeah. You deff got a nice van to start with.
Nice van for sure!
Be sure to take a good look in the rain gutters where the racks were mounted to make sure that the sealer isn't punctured.
Keep us posted!
I wonder if you wet sand that one spot and spray a lil clear coat if it would help match it up
Update,
I got the air to blow. ended up being the fuse block was dirty and the wrong fuses in it. bad switch was probably causing that and they put bigger fuses in it. just gotta put freon in it now to be cool!!
Now it blows great at idle but when going down the road the front vents won't blow. defrost vents do though. so i figure it's a vacuum issue controlling the gates maybe? did i miss something when i changed the air conditioning panel out?
thanks for all the nice comments and help
Ryan
Make sure the vacuum chamber (round ball) under the hood isn't cracked...or missing.
would one of the vacuum hoses on the back of the air control panel be responsible?
i checked out the vacuum ball and it looks to be fine.
Some of the later year switches do no exchange with earlier year switches.
The 89 I had here was different than a switch I got from a 91 parts van ......
.....Wookee
It was a direct replacement. came out of a 94.
Got my pull a part louvers on yesterday. Held on with gem clips. Thanks to this forum for the idea.

It would take some skill, but thats a possibility.
Cool. Got your first custom parts on.
Cool. Got your first custom parts on.
yep just need to gig a little more and the next stuff will go on
The louvers look great
I have only seen a few Chevy vans that color, all have been Mark III conversions. I always assumed they special ordered the base vans in that color, and that it wasn't available normally. I believe it's the same color that was available on Firebirds of the late 80's early 90's.
One of the nicest factory colors ever.
Man I don't know how I missed this post, AWESOME VAN.....I want another Chevy shorty bad !
went to pull a part today and got some broken fiberglass running boards that i am going to make into flares and a cool looking overhead console with lights and switches. busy weekend. I have 4 gigs and all i want to do is stay home and work on the van
PS. I hate that all the running boards on vans are shredded by the way they move the vehicles around by fork lift and slam them down on old rims. oh well. I will make these work
Cool. Post pics when you can.
What kind of band are you in?
Motel Ice Machine in a Rockabilly /Americana band. I play upright bass and play in country and blues bands too.
Playing in a band and driving a van just go together.....
Always has always will.
......Wookee
so i got my flares on. They are parts of broken pullapart running boards that i cut down. they arn't perfect but they will do til i find some real ones.
Dang. That dont look bad. Looks like you matched the paint pretty close to.
Looks good! Theres always more than one way to skin a cat!
i think with a tinted clear i could get it closer. it's just rustoleum rattle can.
Great job on those flares
ah what a bummer. my pipes are sitting in the fedex warehouse not 2 miles from my house and i won't get them til tuesday now. i really wanted to put them on tomorrow before i take it down to a big local cruise in.
That sucks! I hate waiting for new parts to come in.
went to my first cruise in with the van tonight. There was one other van and it was a cool later VW camper. I stuck out like a turd in a punch bowl but it was pretty cool to make the mustang guys sad seeing me there. Oh well. Few more mods and I think I will fit in better. And the post office tried to deliver my pipes while i was gone. Tuesday it is. Also today i picked up a $10 spoiler that i think i can make work until i find my norcal.
I am loving my van
They more you do to that van the more the rest of the car guys are not gona like ya. Lol. Cause youll be getting more attention than them.
Love the van looks really
Hey man where can we vanners hear some of your tunes?
I found youtube videos of them.
Our first album is available on Itunes.
But youtube is cool too.

If they car guys walk by and ignor me at a CAR cruise. I take it as a complement......LOL
Vanners do what the "Cool" Guys wish they could do........
......Wookee
Eh...Just pee pee ont he other car guys!
eh, f- em, they wish that uptight car guys were as good a people as vanners.
i actually just parked it and then left to check out the other cars. It'll be better next time
Did you get your new pipes yet?
just picked them up about an hour ago from the post office. havnt looked at them yet. i am knee deep in a spoiler build then i will tackle the pipes.
you never answered my pm about what you wanted for those flares
Well ive misplaced one. Let me find it and ill let ya know. Been workin on them a lil repairing cracks
I gave up on making my own wing/spoiler but i did manage to get my pipes installed. still got to hook em up but they sure look good
looks great! Now just gotta ditch the truck tires for some nice wide meats to fill up those flares.
I'm not sure the wider tires are for me. I run alot of highway heading to gigs and need all the mpgs i can get.
I am thinking that some simple paneling and insulation are next. still looking for a deal on some body stuff like a visor, front stand alone spoiler, and of course a norcal.
Wide tire really do not effect gas milage.....
I averaged 16 MPG on my trip to Florida in my 89
TBI 350/700R4 trans..... daily driver van
......Wookee
Ive got 295/50's on mine and i get about 18.5
mines got 275/60's and gets about 14 on the highway
thats cuz of a nasty exhaust leak though!
i have a visor and wing being made. Really excited to get them and put them on. It has been too hot to do anything else.
picked up the visor and wing last night. excited to get them painted and put on
looks great! Who made the wing?
David "Matchstick" Brooks. made the visor too.
thanks. i think they came out pretty good
