The Nationals is an event where unfortunately you cannot see it all regardless of how hard you try. So everyone has a different experience.
What were your favorite moments of the Nationals ? Many have mentioned the extreme act of vanner kindness setting up a 50/50 raffle for Homebrew to help pay for his rearend he blew out during the burnout competition.
The sooner we get your feedback here the better. | | | Re: Nationals highlights, facts figures needed for various stories | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 3,434 | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 3,434 | I really enjoyed riding in the flying eagle 2. A van that greg of akron drove to the 76 nats and west coast nats and here coop and I are riding in it to the nats in 2010. It was a joy to ride in a piece of vanning history such as that.
I go to Truck-ins. How about you?

I'm sure we missed some, but we actually did get to see many vanners and actually talk with them for at least a little bit. I'm grateful we got to visit as much as we did. Sorry to those we missed. | | | Re: Nationals highlights, facts figures needed for various stories | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 3,434 | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 3,434 | ken I was surprised I got to talk to you and deb as much as I did. that was a real pleasure. It was great to see everyone again and be able to spend time with others I had not previously met like the guys from Drop Jaw Mag. It was a great time for me. Winning all those awards were awesome. I was stunned to get People's Choice. I was asked numerous times if it was worth the wait. By the stupid grin on my face at times, I guess it was! The hardest part was trying to keep track of when all the bucket, wine, and blender parties were going off!

IMO. Its the most important eVANt to go to. I had a good job there which was nice and cool. [air conditioning]. I got to see people come in and out and even introduce themselves. The Cyber meet and greet was a great idea even though I didn't get to meet some of you. To walk around from campsite to campsite was brutal unless we could catch a nice breeze . The pool was nice too... I would love to see VanNY do another event someday. Vicky, John and Joe did a lot. Ok so I think everything was awesome!!!!!!!! I would do it again anytime.... It was nice to meet you Tina. Finally

For 37 years I have anticipated the Van Nationals for nearly the entire year prior. This year my finances were looking bleak, and I was in doubt whether I could make it. Tom Chronister offered me a ride, and I accepted. It turned out to be a great time-we had a lot of time to talk about all kinds of stuff, some laughs, and he had some company on the long cross country trip that he makes every year. Adding to the enjoyment was the fact that the trip was a bit of a throwback to the "old way" of vanning. We met at the home of the newest members of Midwest Vans Ltd.-Gary and Michelle. Tom had stayed with another member-George Kettell-the night before, and Tina and Bev also met us on Saturday. We headed east,3 vans, 6 people, with a stop to visit Natural State in Ft. Wayne, then on to Jewels' house in Ohio. Jewels was kind enough to leave us a key and invite us to stay, despite the fact that she had left for the Nats earlier that day! This is how we traveled "back in the day". Sunday led us across New York state to the gates of the Nats. Mr. Bill had arrived earlier and had a great spot for our group, so we all pitched in and got everyone set up for the weeklong party. The Nats themselves were everything I expected...hot, fun, and way too short! It was a pleasure to work with Joe and John and the crew from VanNy. It seemed that they always were around, looking for answers and helping folks out. I actually had more time to visit and talk to people this year, and I truly enjoyed it. Wandering the grounds and watching the event grow and fill up was great. Tuesday night I sat with Glenn from DropJaw and watched the sun come up! The van show was great. We were worried about having enough judges, but 15 of you stepped up and got the job done, and we thank all of you for that. I was honored to be a part of the awards ceremony, and really enjoyed Clint's professionalism doing the presentations. On the way home, we stopped at Rollie's Econobar for dinner and a few drinks, then headed back to Jewels' for the night. It was fun to see groups of vans and vanners on the road all over the place traveling. We got back to Gary and Michelle's late Monday afternoon, and back to reality. Thanks to everybody for everything!
