Take out a tape measure and see how wide your's is, and plan accordingly.
You can keep your speedo accurate by buying tires that are the same diameter as the ones on your van now, only the rim diameter would change. | | | Re: wheel size questions #55330 August 30th 2004 4:52 pm | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 | I used to have a link to an upsize chart, gave people rim and tire aspect ratio's if they wanted to go larger. 235/70 R15 245/60 R16 255/50 R17 | | | Re: wheel size questions #55331 August 31st 2004 12:44 am | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 592 addict | addict Joined: May 2003 Posts: 592 | Here's a neat little calculator that will help you find out potential discrpencies in your speedo. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html | | | Re: wheel size questions #55332 August 31st 2004 1:56 am | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 364 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 364 | i knew about matching tire diameter... but 20's? thats gonna be nothing for tires... and plus, dont you need some kind of tires for the weight of a van? lets say.. IF the tire was bigger in the end how would i correct my speedometer? | | | Re: wheel size questions #55333 August 31st 2004 5:39 am | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 | You go to the dealership, tell them your combo (engine, trans, rear end, and tire diameter), and they sell you a new gear for your speedo cable.
As far as tha matching, my dad matched his 20s to the stock diameter, I'll have to check, but I think his are like 275-50-20s | | |
