The event was a grand success...The reason being that it is run entirely on a volunteer basis - there are no "assignments'....A couple of us perform the initial tasks such as setting up the schedules, signing for the grounds , buying the insurance and getting all the trophies and patches ready to go.....From then on it is the dedicated folks who show up and run their particular aspect of the event.....This in my opinion is the only way to run a van-in....We have proved this over the past 19 years of the event.
Our numbers through the gate this year was 285- the best we have done yet ...We hope that this is an indicator of future success for events down the road.....We were pleased to see that Raoul and Cindy Lou made the long trek to the event, coming as they did from Colorado....Seems as though Raoul had heard some good things about our little party and wanted to see it for himself.
As far as I know the only problem of any significance was the ice..We seem to have this every year and although the company was right on top of it initially, the heat and holiday weekend folks in the area led to a 4 hour (or so ) period when we were without ice....We have talked to them again and they promise to do better.
Next years event theme is "LOST IN THE WILD WILD WEST"...so set aside all your western thoughts and apparel for then...I'd like to see more groups - including our gate area- get better use of the theme...It should be an easy one.....
Again- thanks to EVERYONE who contributed to the event by working, participating and attending LMDW......TIETIS

We had a great time, even though we didn't get out of the campsite much. Seemed like everyone visited us that wanted to see us, but I still would've liked to get out there to the field and see more of my FAMILY!
Thanks to all the volunteers and to all the vanners who make this run truly worthwhile!

I sure miss going to this run, it was usually the first run of my vannin season when I lived in Montreal. Hope to get back there one day soon. Thanks to Ken for the pictures and to Frank a.k.a Little Dreamer for the results. | | |
