I've got a newer Clarion unit I put in the van back in 2009. At that time it already had the large cutout. Now I'm thinking of going retro, they make a kit now to go back to a shaft radio. Anyways I found two radios I like on Ebay, one is a nice Kenwood Cassette and the other is an nos Kraco 8 track. I'm sure the Kenwood would sound better but damn I love the look of an 8 track. The price is steep but if you had to choose which one?

Theyre both very nice....That 8 track is cool, but Im with Wiz...I like the cassette, unless you really want that 70s vibe.

Well I ordered the shaft kit anyways, yeah I know the cassette would be more reliable and I'm sure is pushing more watts per ch than the older 8 track one.

K guys you are leaning me towards the cassette one, I just emailed the seller on his best price so we'll see what he says.

I'd go for the 8 track. Better sound. The 8 spins at I believe 3 3/4 per min. and the cass. spins at 1 7/8. With audio the faster the spin the better the highs and sound. Plus with cass. you don't get that retro chi clunk sound when changing channels.
With my set up I have a 70's indash w/cass and I went a little further and bought a 70's Craig stand alone Quad 8-track for the over head. Four channels of 70's music all thru the van. So that way I can have the best of both worlds!!
With your van being so retro and cool, you need the 8-track to round it off.
Just my two cents!
