Before I remove the axle for inspection I was wondering if there a seal I should replace at the end of the tranny or anything like that. I have a 6 cyl /4 speed manual trany. I will also need to know where would it be the refill access point location on the tranny. I have replaced axels on small cars ,but not yet on a bigger vehicule. Any advice will be greatly appreciated and even more if you can add pics or a links | | | Re: Fluid at the Axle area | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 2,825 veteran | veteran Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 2,825 | don't know about your particular application is but,the trans hooks to drive shaft then it hooks to the punkin of the rear,u say leak looks to B were trans hooks to rear? what happin to drive shaft? lol if its the front of rear pumpkin were drive shaft hooks on their is a front yoke seal their, depending on type rear the fill is rubber plug or metal screw plug,or could B metal screw plug on front of pumpkin(towards front of van)...... 79 B-200

Acessible from underneath. Two plugs actually...one is a drain and the other is a fill.

You'll need to pull the driveshaft out to get that seal out. Fluid will spill out when you remove the driveshaft, but don't worry about it.
If you are careful, you can pry the old seal out with a screwdriver and then tap the new one in with a hammer and large socket.
