If you read my earlier post about Ign problems then you know I had some assistance in the motivation dept on this project.
About 6 months ago I read Reed's sales pitch on HEI conversions.... Several times
Thanks for the info Reed! I just happened to have an old HEI sitting around already so I went to the PAP and got a Ford "E" coil as suggested, and then everything sat for a month or so. With my Ign failure last week, I dug in and mocked it all up (before actual installation) and NO SPARK!! So, I rechecked the wiring and, everything checked, the coil was grounded, check.. The HEI module was suspect. I had it checked @ the local parts store and the first thing he did was hook up a ground to the module...
Ok, so I missed one, anyway the instructions didn't say the MODULE was supposed to be grounded
Dummy me.. Well, it works great now and it cost me only 7.50 for the coil!
Highly recommend this mod! I used the drivers side vacuum module screw location to mount the HEI unit to the dist (w a longer screw), and an old pentium chip heat sink with some dialectic grease.
I guess I still need to re-gap my plugs.
