1980–1986 Ford LTD
1980–1993 Ford Thunderbird
1980–1993 Mercury Cougar
1980–1993 Ford Mustang
1980–1986 Mercury Marquis
1980–1987 Lincoln Continental
1980–1983 Lincoln Mark VI

SO that means that I can purchase any AOD Tranny from this vehicles and place them on my 1975 e150?
Will the swap be easy or do I have to take certain considerations? Share Thy knowledge.
Thanks brothers!! smile

The swap is a bolt in, provided you use the correct flex plate and you have a 300, 302, or 351. You want to try and get a 1989 or later transmission since internal changes were made and the later transmissions are stronger. You will need to splice the wiring going to the neutral start switch.

Earlier this year, I swapped my 1989 van from a 302/AOD combination to a 351/C-6 combination. I detailed the swap here. I didn't want to swap in the C-6, but I made a right mess of the AOD by using the wrong flex plate. The correct flex plate is readily available for $20 here

The wiring splice to use the AOD neutral start switch is actually quite easy. The same color wires are used, you just have to match them up. See here.

Right now, my 89 van with the 351/C-6 combo will do 70 turning about 3000 RPM. That is much too high for my taste. I want to get my AOD rebuilt and installed so I can go back to cruising at 70 turning 2300 RPM.

You want to beef up the guts of any AOD you purchase to install. I recommend you peruse this site http://www.ford-aod.com for ideas.

Windows- they're what make a van worth owning!
