Hooker does still make kits that you can fabricate to your van. I want to do the same thing but have been unable to find a bolt on application. My local speed shop has a very experienced welder and he said he can assemble this system, welding something like this is not for the weekend welder and will probably run somewhere in the 1000.00 - 1500.00 range for the kit and installation.
There are a couple of threads on these forums discussing this topic with the use of fake header side pipes (show tubes) made by patriot and sold from JC Whitney.
Good luck and if you find any other info please share it with us this is a modification many vanners would like to do.

If we can get some vanners together maybe I can strike a good deal with this shop. -1977 Chevy Shorty (black) -1977 Chevy Full size (brown)Parts Van -1978 Chevy Shorty (Dark Metalic Blue)

I do want to mention after posting this idea I did a search for 2 1/8 tube headers and couldn't find anything but there are many other options like step up the pipe size as you go. I think the true header into side pipes is the coolest exhaust for a van available. I think they used to make these for vans and I have seen 2 vans with them, recently a blue dodge owned by a guy named Paul (i think) and Iron Butterfly a custom chevy long box built by Don Hastings from NM in the 70's. Keep us posted.

There were companies in the 70's-80's that did make the headers that ran out to the side pipes. I had thought about the Hookers, but at 65", they are too short even for a short wheelbase van. I have a set of side pipes and will one day be cutting my headers apart and extending each pipe out to the 4 into 1 collector like Munz suggested. Keep us posted on what you do. Brad | | |
