Some of you might have seen this already but it's now new to me. Catfish originally posted the Craigslist ad back in February but it was in Kentucky and I thought wow that's kinda far so I passed on it but when I saw Bullet scoop it up I was bummed for me and excited for him. Shortly after bullet decided to sell his collection so I asked him about the Nomad and we struck a deal and last weekend Cheryl and I went to Tennessee for a weekend road trip to bring it home. I had purchased an LT1 motor and 460E trans last week with the intentions of putting it in the Nomad but tonight I got it running so maybe I will work with the originality of the Nomad and put the LT1 in the Outta Sight. It appears that most of the items in the van work and the interior is pretty nice but allot of the external rubber is cracked and the plastic is brittle so it really needs an overhaul (restoration) but the main thing is its 100% there. The trans is definitely not working but that's ok cause I'm really into the 700R transmissions. My plans are to keep it as original as possible, go through the drive train while driving it and when its reliable get the paint redone like the original paint. I want to thank Quentin (Bullet) for giving me the opportunity to own a vehicle that I've admired for over 30 years and being a truly great person to deal with. He and his brother Pat were very helpful and made every bit of the 1200+ mile trip in a weekend (43 hours) a pleasure by meeting us along the way, helping load it up and making sure it was secured good before we left for the 600 mile trip home. He gave us a tour of their work shop in TN and they have some pretty cool toys down there. I asked him if he had ever been to a truckin and he said he hadn't but he was a camper.....hopefully we can get him to a run someday cause he would fit right in, good person, very funny and van hobbyist. I would also like to thank Catfish for posting this back in February. Here is a pic of me towing it home, other than loosing the dolly license plate and the wiring on the dolly being a bit rough the trip went real well, we even had time to stop at South Halston Lake just over the VA border and take the dog for his 1st swimming lesson. The VA welcome center to check the tie downs. [img:center]http:// [/img] Parked at the lake. [img:center]http:// [/img] and a quick swim to cool off, did I mention it was hot?? I am still looking for the original ad, I think I saved it somewhere. I am carrying on with the shorty, have all the stuff in a pile to put it on the road except tires. Maybe we can see each other again at a meet, kind of a reunion tour. I do plan to try to make some runs next year, all this work is making me an old man, did I mention I am only 24? LOL
