Now here are a few pictures of my new van
It´s a 1991 Chevy G30 conversion from Starcraft with a 6.2L diesel and has 325k kilometers on the clock.
It has seen better days, but the engine is running like a clock, starting without any smoke and is not using any oil or water.
Only external oil I have seen comes from the back of the left valve-cover and it´s just a minor leak.
No external water seen yet!
This is it. Just got it last Thursday, got it registered Friday !
It is going to be my everyday ride to work and hope to take the family cruising on weekends
The van has not been used for the last 5 months during the winter here, so it is very moist inside and needs a good washing inside and out!
The interior has been taken apart quite a few times, I ques and has not been reassembled properly each time. So it is in bad shape, with lots of lose padding and wires hanging out from all over.
On the outside you can see that it has been neglected and the age is clearly showing, but it is strait and I have not discovered any leaks so fare.
The pictures show the worst off the rust that I have found.
It´s not bad considering our climate and the salt used on our road in winter time.
It can all be fixed with a angel-grinder, some sheet-metal and a welder and lots of
As the headline says, I hope it will be the start off a long story.
I´ve always have had an eye for van´s and American cars, but whenever I have had the chance to by one, it has been a regular car!
I´ve had ´77 Corvette, ´82 Camaro, ´89 Fairmonth, ´75 Malibu and for 3 weeks I had a ´89 G20 6.2 diesel... I will not call it at van... It used more oil than diesel and more water than air... Had to pump the tires every morning and check all the ropes that held it together
When I was finished moving junk with it, it went the same way as all the other junk...
I almost got a bill for the rust instead off money for the iron!!
So hopefully there will be some updates coming here, but it is a long term project so there might go some time before the next one!
But I will for sure be here, checking your rides with a bit of envy and respect. There sure are some fine vans here
