hey guys looking for thoughts. my 350 is starting to blow oil out the pipe. quick story on my van, found it sitting in an impound lot about 7 months ago. wasent an impound, was just stored there and forgot about by the owner. found owner and got the van for free yay replaced everything the belt turned, had a squeak. been driving it since. now it sat in the yard for about 3-4 yrs. replaced all fluids including fuel and did major tune up. no signs of any oil on plugs. runs and shifts great but now its starting to smoke. could be rings or valves but if it was that wouldnt it have smoked from the begining or soon after? could the oil return holes be clogged from freed gunk allowing oil to leak through valves? engine has 140,000 on it but runs like new, besides the smoke. oil pressure is good all through rpm range as well. any thought would be great. thank for the help cheers

PCV valve clogged ???

Change the oil and put Lucas oil treatment in it...the valve seals may be a little dried out

actually that is kinda typical for a 350 with those miles.
Not knowing any history on the engine.(how hard it was ran or well it was maintained).
it is possible the engine did not like the type of oil you used.
Is the smoke appearing at start up? big puff.
During hard acceleration?
After a long decent down a hill ?

Keep an eye on the oil level.Check it frequently as you drive the van.
If you do not allow it to go too low it will run fine Untill you get you money together to do a complete rebuild.
good luck

From what I know about the previous owner the van was maintained pretty good. And I'd have to agree by the looks of it. At the moment its smoking when I accelerate and start the engine. Last night it was a little even when driving. But this is all kinds sudden. Didn't have this problem a few days ago. But it did smoke a little after I changed the oil last. Gona check the pcv again just to be sure. Maybe a different oil is needed? Some things to look into. Gona see about a compression test as well. Thanks for the thoughts. Any and all are welcomed.

For a gunked up engine I ran Seafoam through it....It seemed to work ok, but changed the oil twice in 500 miles afterwards....But that 350 turned out to be a 305 lol
