Two days ago a knocking sound started coming from the engine. It seems to happen allot, but not always (90%). Its fairly quiet and it doesnt sound like its from inside the engine itself, more like something attached to it. I looked for what it might be, but it's hard to tell, though the pulleys do seem to wobble slightly. Any thoughts?

you should make a video or something so we can hear it. could be a loose bolt vibrating around or maybe he air pump or ac pump. lifters maybe? have enough oil? maybe give the gerbils more food? They prolly just complaining!

Could be a carbon knock, try running some Seafoam through the carb and see what happens......

Also try hooking up a mechanical oil pressure gauge. It will tell you a little about what is going on in the engine.

When it's knocking take a metal pipe and place it on the engine near the head and listen to the other end. Move it around the heads and bottom end where you can safely place it. This will help determine the location of the knock.

change the oil...
Be sure to prime the filter if possible by filling it with oil beofre installing.. When you restart the engine there will be zero oil pressure for a moment and you will surely hear any loose or worn bearings they will make distinctive knock until oil presure builds.
Just gotta narrow down the possible causes of the knock, the "oil change" knock-test will help narrow the field.

Thanks guys. Looks like it was the oil. Thankfully.
