I agree. Please describe your situation and I can probably help. Some car/vans have a bolt/screw in channel (ours are at the back by the catch but I got a feeling yours is the front one), remove this before fitting. bolt/screw onto regulator and reinstall channel if was removed.
You can also take out the felt window channels to fit but they can be a prick to put back in later | | | Re: Installing Door Glass in a Chopped Van | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 | If your wondering how to make the glass, you will have to cut it from laminated glass, you CAN NOT cut tempered glass. Another option is to have flat glass made and have it tempered, but this will only work if you have small windows and or your window tracks are straight. There is a vehicle (1991 suburban) that has rear quarter glass that is laminated so this is your best option for cutting laminated glass because it has a slight curve. This is what Frank Costa did with Never Enough but they only make this glass in dark tint. Good luck and keep us posted and please share any other ideas or options you may find in your quest because this is a frequently asked question in our circle.

For the door glass I used the original glass. I also modified vent window frames. I cut the glass to fit it. Vent windows are now permanently sealed. I had to eliminate the rear glass channel.

The actual amount is dependent upon the amount that you chop the top. You see, when you roll the window down on a van the gap widens at the rear of the glass. By widening the post you can keep the door hardware untouched with the exception of the vent frame and glass. There I usually cut the vent frame down and shape it to fit the new opening. I then cut a window from either Lexan or flat glass again this depends upon the amount the top was cut.
I was not aware of the Suburban glass. I'll check into that. Thanks Munz! | | |
