I found this blog a few weeks ago about a young couple who sold everything, quit their jobs and drove all the way to the tip of South America. Their vehicle of choice is a white '84 Vanagon, nicknamed "Nacho".

Now, that they've made it, they have shipped their van to Maylasia and are heading north to go across Asia and Europe.

You can find this blog at www.drivenachodrive.com .

I was really impressed by a lot of things:

1 - For a first timer, he built a really professionnal, modern and cozy van.
2 - The repairs they made on the road are nothing short of miraculous!
3 - They are both great writers. I was often on the edge of my seat!
4 - The obvious: quitting everything for such a trip takes real courage.

So, if you like adventure stories, take a look!

To be honest, the reason I have decided to post this topic is because they have asked for investors in their book across Asia. Unfortunately, fees for crossing the border are in China are very high. So to fund this project, they've started a project to write a book on kickstarter.com. That way, you pay 10$ (or more) and then get a copy of the book once it's complete.

I hope this posts doesn't turn into a debate about funding their trip or not. Just wanted to throw out their a really interesting story... about a van. I know I enjoyed it.

Great stuff. I am very jealous!

When Chris Farley talked about living in a van down by the river, did anybody else think that wasn't such a bad idea?
