Did the vibration start when you dropped the front end? There should be a 15 degree difference in the drivesahft angle. If it is too straight or angled too far it will cause a vibration. If the driveshaft is ballanced, you may want to check the pinion bearing.if the pinion is moving it will also cause a vibration and can also cause u-joint wear. | | | Re: bad vibrations #88090 December 29th 2003 2:01 pm | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,866 veteran | veteran Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,866 | Vanner 40, You may have a bad torque converter. Lost its balance. Not knowing your van its also possible you slipped a tooth or 2 on your timing chain. The originals used a steel cog with nylon gears. It could also be bad high tension wires. Was it damp or raining when this happened? If you take the dog house off and run the van in the dark you can sometimes see the problem sparking from a wire or your dist. to ground. You might also want to check inside your dist. for carbon tracks. That would tell you its time to replace it, could be jumping inside. Also chech or listen for vacuum leaks, this could cause you vacuum advance from activating. Remember to work safe disconnect you batt. before elect work. Hope this helps. S.P. | | |
