I just got it a month ago and starting to work on the motor end of it. My first thought was the torque converter, I had trouble with my last dodge there. I'm going to start with the simple first, tune up and down ward, I know I'll eventually find it, it's just nice having a little help, makes it easyier knowing some of the things to look for. I have no info on the van except the bull the guy told me when he sold it to me, ran great in the parking lot, on the open road is a different story now. I found a steering box and center link arm, now on to the motor, thanks guys. | | | Re: bad vibrations #88092 December 31st 2003 5:05 pm | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 218 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 218 | vanner 40 i had a 76 dodge and a couple of fellow vanners had mid 70's dodges that had the sterring boxes tear out of the frame. check to see your van is ok. | | | Re: bad vibrations #88093 January 01st 2004 3:46 pm | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 | Hmmm, did the guy do a motor swap? I had a similar problem when I bought my van. The genious put what he thought was a 318 in, problem was it was a 360 and the van had the 318 trans. 318s are internally balanced, and 360s are externally balanced. This might be something to check. | | | Re: bad vibrations #88094 January 02nd 2004 4:28 am | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 536 addict | addict Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 536 | Hi guys, I'm getting a steering box from John flyin dutchmen, and he said he had trouble with the steering box mounts cracking, the one I'm getting from him already has the mount welded, so thats something I'm gonna have to check when I get under this girl. I know about swapping motors, When I changed motors in my last van, from 360 to 318, I had to knock off the counter weight on fly wheel, would be nice if the manufactors would keep things simple across the board, it's always a learning experienece, thanks guys. | | | Re: bad vibrations #88095 January 04th 2004 4:37 pm | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 3 stranger | OP stranger Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 3 | to all that replied. in now have a wealth of info and can hopefully sort out my problem. i very mudh appreciate all the responses. hurricane wayne , where are you located. sounds like you would be a good man to know. keep on vannin. thanks again | | | Re: bad vibrations #88096 January 05th 2004 11:45 pm | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 374 Likes: 5 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 374 Likes: 5 | I`LL AGREE WITH THE ENGINE VIBRATION SHOULD BE THE CONVERTER DOESN`T MATCH THE ENGINE.
