The Mopar oil filter adapter (90 degree) is like 45 bucks new, and its still a pain to get at. Dont despair. Just order a filter for a 1987 Dodge aires with a 2.2L. It screws right on with the exact same gaskets size. And its much smaller in size. So far as durability, I have had no problems over 200,000 miles with low oil pressure or clogged filters. I change them at about 6-8,000 miles, running Fram or AutoQuest filters. | | | Re: Smaller oil filter for smallblocks #87651 January 01st 2006 11:20 pm | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 | Most Chryslers use the same filter. There is actually a tall and a short for the small and big blocks, I used to run the short on my 440 Charger because the tall one would hit the power sterring belt going on. | | | Re: Smaller oil filter for smallblocks #87652 January 02nd 2006 7:55 am | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 780 old hand | old hand Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 780 | I like those filter relocation kits, espcially the ones for dual filters. I like having the extra quart of oil plus you can mount it where ever you want. | | | Re: Smaller oil filter for smallblocks #87653 January 02nd 2006 9:07 am | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 | Yes, especially vertical, so you don't spill oil everywhere when you change it! | | |
