You might have seen my plastic I got chrome plated in the main GD section. I wanted to get my side markers done too. The guy says he's tried before with the lenses in place, but it doesn't come out right. The lense must be removed from the housing in order to do it properly. How is the lense attached, and are they meant to come out? I tried one that I had as an extra and it broke. Any ideas? Murray

I believe they are one piece. I don't believe they can be seperated. Boy I sure wish someone sold these new...it really sucks. [Frown]

Problem is Casey, I've got four good ones. (front and rear) All of the housings and lenses are in really, really good condition. Don't want to try to seperate those with the potential of them breaking. Guess I will just paint with plastic chrome paint? Unless anyone else has other idea. Murray

I don't want to ruin the look of my Dodge...but I'm considering when having my body work done, shaving the markers and installing some good looking new ones that are easily replaceable. [Eek!] [ August 12, 2005, 01:27 PM: Message edited by: arbito ]

I guess the extra marker lights I picked up at the junkyard must have been in a somewhat deteriorated condition because I had no problems separating them. The foam gaskets seemed to be in decent shape though. Have them packed away and are buried in storage shed so no pics, sorry. Arbito, just food for thought. What about 68 mopar side marker lights? here is a picture of a rear one (front have orange lenses). - These are the style I want to use on mine to go with the "muscle van" theme.

You could get chrome sidemarker lights with the 1971 Plymouth Sportsman or Royal vans. Bobert told me about them at the Nats this year. I did see a chrome set several years ago and the guy wanted $1000 for all four, so they must be pretty rare.

There are companies that do actual chrome painting (like the cap on "close to chrome", or new car emblems). The one in Cleveland is called Gold Touch, Nutty Nik and Phil started one up in England, I'm sure there's one in your area. Call a car dealership and ask them who paints the emblems for their "gold editions" (like Honda Accords), most of those are done on site, the company deploys an Astro with the paint setup inside.

Wayne, check out my post, (actually you already saw it), it GD titled "check this out" We have a company here, 20 mins away from my house, problem is he says he's tried before with masking off lenses and it never comes out of the machine the way it should look. Thought I could get lenses off easily, but thought wrong! Murray

Oh, so the stuff you posted is actually painted, not chrome dipped? Guess you've got the shave those babies off, now! (I can feel you slapping me from here!)
