So tell me what combo wheel & tire you think would look best, if any of these.
Here's my options...
WHEELS:
- Cragar S/S (15x8 front, 15x10 rear)
- Slotted mags, same size
- O.E. pickup or truck rallies, same size
- Chrome smoothies, same size
TIRES:
- Mickey Thompson Indy Profile S/S' G60 or L60 front, N50 rear
or...
- BFGoodrich Radial T/A's
275/50 front, 295/50 rear
Note: I already have a set of slotted mags, but they only have 3" back spacing, so I would need flares.

I would also go with the T/As. | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84077 March 28th 2006 6:20 am | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,148 old hand | old hand Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,148 | Well, If the GMC is the dark one (I think so), I would use the slotted mags with M/T's very a sweet vintage appeal. Flares will only add to this effect. If you are discussing the white one, I would go with the Rallye's and T/A's as I think they would be a better combo for that paint.... What do you think???..... | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84078 March 28th 2006 8:48 am | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 780 old hand | old hand Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 780 | I like the S/S and M/T combo. The Mickys have a wider look and I'm a sucker for Crager S/S's. | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84079 March 28th 2006 9:36 am | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,398 old hand | old hand Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,398 | I am a slot freak I would go with them it is a bad habbit but I also hord them when I find them | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84080 March 29th 2006 1:24 am | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 28,125 Madman! | Madman! Here's my pros and cons for each.
Cragar S/S: Pro: Classic wheel, everyone has em Con: Classic wheel, everyone has em steel wheel, rusts
Slots: See above for Pro and Con Pro: aluminum, needs polishing, but won't rust
Ralleyes: I don't like them on anything
Smoothies: Pro: not quite as popular as the first 2 Pro: Cheapest of the 4 Pro: LOTS of chrome, look good polished up Con: Steel wheels, rust Con: Cheaper wheel, rusts faster Pro: You live in Washington, not Ohio
So there you go, I don't know if I actually answered anything or not. | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84082 March 28th 2006 8:35 pm | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 18,536 Likes: 135 Supreme Master | Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 18,536 Likes: 135 | | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84083 March 28th 2006 9:47 pm | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 2,632 Wood Carver, Supreme | Wood Carver, Supreme Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 2,632 | | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84084 March 28th 2006 9:51 pm | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 4,338 vantooner | vantooner Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 4,338 | | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84085 March 29th 2006 12:20 am | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 3,455 Likes: 23 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 3,455 Likes: 23 | Cragar SS w/ Spinners or Torque Thrust. Stick them on there and see if you like them. You can always swap out later! | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84089 March 29th 2006 7:01 am | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 943 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 943 | Thanks guys, your help is appreciated. The only problem with the slots is that they only have 3" back spacing, so the rears stick out really far. I put em' on just to see how far...and its pretty far! Im not sure if I want to put flares on that van or not.

PS I forgot BF Goodrich for the tire. | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84091 March 29th 2006 9:25 am | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,398 old hand | old hand Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,398 | if they were a ford bolt pattern I would buy them | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84092 March 30th 2006 1:24 am | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 28,125 Madman! | Madman! I would keep them. Although in Washington it IS illegal for any portion of a vehicle other than a rear view mirror to stick out beyond the body of the vehicle more than three inches without a mudflap (see? I did learn something useful in law school!).
Why not swap the Cragars form your other van onto the black one and them put flares on the white one? | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84095 March 30th 2006 2:38 am | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 364 addict | addict Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 364 | Well Reed, It's only illegal if you get caught. As I told the local law enforcment officer the other day, " That light may have been red when you went through it, But it was yellow when I did." He still wrote me the ticket though. That deep dish look may be old school, But it still rocks !!!! Hey Ryan, If you don't want to use those slots I know a certin chevy that could use them. Let me know. | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84096 March 30th 2006 3:32 am | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | As far as tires go both the G/60 and L/60 are taller than the N/50 tire.
Both G/60 and L/60 are way too wide to run up front.
275/60 is the same as an L/60
245/60 is the same as an G/60
295/50 is the same as an N/50
tire sizes and backspacing really seem to confuse people....
Any wheel style you choose that is 7"wider or more and has 4"s or less back spacing will require running flares.
Here is a set of Corvette style rallies
15x7 195/65/15 on the front
15x8 275/60/15 on the rear
I an going for the no flare all steel Hot Rod look on the early.........
Here is my 77 Chevy running Crager SS's
275/60/15's on the back on 10"
235/70/15's 0n the front on 7" revesed
Both vans were running B.F.Goodrich tires
I posted these pictures to help you visualise the tire sizes.Hope it helps.
Oh yea I like crager SS's
old style slots were Ok if you liked buffing your ass off on them to make them shine(old stlye with no clear coat)
I never had rust problems with my Cragers but I also never ran them in the wintner.GM truck rallies are great for that

N50's are 345/50, and G60's are 255/60. I have 275/60's up front on my Chevy and they fit fine. Go here and click on Indy Profile SS...it has sizes. http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/street.html | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84098 March 31st 2006 1:22 am | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 378 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 378 | cragar's on the mickey's is my pick

I have one of each actually western cyclones(similar style to Vectors) on my van and Cobra slots on my '72 Scimitar GTE car (UK built classic). | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84102 April 04th 2006 11:49 pm | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 474 addict | addict Joined: May 2001 Posts: 474 | I just broke down and bought a set of chrome smoothies for my van from Jeg's. I was too poor for anything else and all the Vectors and cyclones and hurricanes and ansen slots were the wrong size (ugh.). I think they will look cool once I get my bubble windows in. | | | Re: Wheels & Tires... need opinions (pics!!) #84103 April 14th 2006 7:58 am | Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 74 member | member Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 74 | Slots or Cragars, I love the old school!..
