...i met up w/ tumbleweed for a while today and one of the things that came up was that he suggested i remove my back seat out of my van. now, this is something i want to do, but for now the back seat is holding down a board that my amp is mounted on. i still had yet to devise a way to mount my amp and speakers otherwise...
well tonight, it happened. at approximately 10pm, the solution just popped into my head. i will try to describe without diagrams and such...anyways....
the back seat will be out, and coming from the back door all the way up to the start of the sliding door there will be a platform, about a 12-18 inches high. i will leave room for the passenger side captains chair to go in (if needed), but the platform will sort of "wrap around" the chair and go up to behind my seat.
now...on the front angled part of the wraparound, there will be a clear plexiglass window..about a foot back there will be a mirror and in between both will be mounted my amp. on the underside of the top there will be mounted red lights to light up the space inside where the amp is.. not sure if ill mount my subs on teh inside or have them mounted on the outer face of the platform yet...the outer face of the platform will consist of the classic old school 70's wood paneling w/ grooves available at home depot for about $9 for more paneling than one would ever need.
now, for the top....basically i need to find something good i can use for a cushion, aka make a bed out of, cus this would be perfect for van-ins, that way i dont have to use a tent and such...(yay
)
the back half of the top will be hinged and lockable, so it can flip up and i can store stuff inside, thus, losing no storage space for my creation....
i was also thinking, i dont have a name for my van...someone mentioned a van run called "woodie boogie"....now, i think that would be an apropriate name for my van, but you know, i dont really want to be stealing someone elses thunder...
well, thats all for now folks. keep the dream alive.
oh and the best part? ill be doing all the work myself, and its wood so its inexpensive. it will just take time
