Are there any kits to lower an AWD Astro/Safari. All the lowering kits I see are for 2WD models.

If the AWD system is borrowed from the S-10 trucks, it's a torsion bar setup that can be cranked down...

I'm not sure if they're the same and my reason for that is that I see both S-10 kits and Astro 2wd kits but neither say AWD. Thanks for the input though. [Smile]

next time thru the boneyard I'll check out an AWD Astro and see how it's set up...seems to me the reason for the torsion bar suspension is cuz the front axle shafts go thru where the coil spring would sit.

I'd appreciate that, you seem to be much more up on this stuff that I am.

I was looking for a new solid daily driver and an Astro might be where I'm going. But I wanna know what I'm getting into before hand, meaning what I can and cannot do to it.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I can help. I have lowered my 2000 Safari 2 1/2 inches. The front is cheap, it's just an adjustment bolt where the torsion bar mounts on the cross brace. Check the factory settings and counting the revolutions, crank down the side that is lowest already(pass. I think) until the bolt bottoms out. On my van this was 6 rull revolutions. Now crank the side that was higher(driver?) down the same amount. This will keep the difference in spring strength side to side that counters the weight difference left to right that these vans have.

The rear is very different than a 2wd Astro. I had to return the Airbags and rear disc conversion I bought for a 2wd. Luckily the lowering leaf springs fit by mounting them backwards with the end labeled "front" pointing to the rear. Any lower than 2 1/2 inches will require major surjury. If you want details, let me know.
