Isn't the cat supposed to be mounted before the mufflers? I dunno, probably not a Ca legal setup...

If you don't mind me asking- how does it have ZERO effect on the trans fluid that in the pan that's an inch away from that ripping hot pipe? I honestly just assumed. I would more then anything love to put my mind at rest and get on with my life. There is no vanity in my idea for dual pipes.

Trans pan is a decently thick piece of metal. It would reflect radiant heat from a tail pipe pretty easily.

So here in Denver they are sticklers for emissions on post 82 vehicles. Any good suggestions or pictures on how to straight pipe a 1987 350 cid and keep the cats? Also any good yet cost efficient aftermarket catalytic converter options out there?

Thanks

Ryan

Hollow the cat out and reinstall.

In PA, they have Classic and Antique license plates. Both are emission exempt. Classic plates require vehicle to be, at least, 15 years old. Antique plates require vehicle to be, at least, 26 years old. Antique plates also do not require annual safety inspection. There are limitations on how these plates are used. My van has Classic plates. I am emissions compliant, but it is not required. I would think other states offer similar programs for older vehicles.
