I've got a 74 e300 quadravan and I'm planning on dropping in a late model 302 to replace the stock due to a broken crankshaft. Not sure if I'll be going efi or not yet, depends what I can find for a reasonable donor.
Anyways I want a manual trans with an overdrive so I think I'm going to take the time to swap in a NV3550 from a Jeep TJ and use advanced adapters kit to mate it to the ford 302 bell housing. Its a popular swap with the bronco guys. I'll have to build some linkage for the shifter and add a clutch pedal. Also debating on running AA's kit to run the stock dana20 tcase or use the NV231 tcase out of the jeep
Anyways enough of that... keep truckin on this build, I look forward to the updates!

I'm probably just going to put a couple pistol grip style handles on top of what's there. It looks like they will come through the floor right by the rear of the driver's seat, and sit nice and low to the floor. | | | Re: 4x4 shorty van | Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 | | | | Re: 4x4 shorty van | Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 3,692 Likes: 32 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 3,692 Likes: 32 | A little off topic, but I love the Nova sedan in the background. | | | Re: 4x4 shorty van | Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 | That's one of the winter projects he has laying around... We got a buddy turning down some parts for us for the front disc brakes, then we gotta plumb the fuel lines and fire up the new motor. It's no show-car but should make a decent little driver...
The frame in the left of the pic is a 55 chevy truck that he put a camaro clip under 3-4 years ago. There's an LT1 sitting in the garage waiting to go in it. One of these days he'll get caught up with all of his projects... lol | | | Re: 4x4 shorty van | Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 | | | | Re: 4x4 shorty van | Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 345 | I'm headed back out today to continue the process. This van used to have a th400 in it, which was longer than my 700r4, so the factory tranny crossmember is going to work out pretty well. I'll bolt that up, and rotate the motor slightly, then build some pedestals for the motor mounts and start welding! | | | Re: 4x4 shorty van | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 2,427 veteran | veteran Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 2,427 | that is some awesome work!
