Fuses and the four fusable links under the hood all test ok. there is no power at the fuse block for the windows,ac,rear heat. Am I missing a link? Could it be ignition switch? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks. | | | Re: 89 g20 electric trouble #44372 August 01st 2003 2:43 am | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 864 old hand | old hand Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 864 | I would check the switch I Just Had to Replace one in my brothers car as He had a problem with no AC and it was the switch. With just the pics there, It looks like a circut was added for something (the empty fuse holder) And the wrapped wires could be a radio, or another item thats now gone. Extra lights?
The power windows, AC and windshield wiper, should be separate from one another. The power line from the battery might all be related.
Conversion vans can be a pain electrically. With extra lights, plugs, power seats in back, and so on, its hard to know exactly whats what, with out some testing, or a real good wiring blueprint. | | | Re: 89 g20 electric trouble | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 514 Likes: 55 addict | addict Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 514 Likes: 55 | Did you have power at the fuse block when you checked it? If not check your fusible links at the starter. | | | Re: 89 g20 electric trouble | Joined: May 2015 Posts: 3 stranger | stranger Joined: May 2015 Posts: 3 | Thanks for you help. I'm at level 1 vehicle knowledge so I checked the fuses with a DMM and check for continuity. That's as much as I'm able to do without causing more damage. My best and quickest solution is to take it to a mechanic and let him go at it because you're right Magus, it could be something that has since been removed.
I will update you so you know what it was.

These guys could definitely be right with their guesses as well, but that's just been my experience. I've had the engine to firewall ground break in 2 different vehicles, and another was just loose. These have caused everything from non functioning headlights, to turn signals that would blink at random moments.
The other .1% of my electrical headaches have been cause by the floor operated high-low beam switch. That is a very problematic area on old Chevys as it is in an area that collects lots of mud, dirt, dust, and water from your feet and the connections and body ground corodes super easily. | | |
