Acting as a one way valve? It will bleed down but It's dragging the caliper. | | | Re: Front brake hose? | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Its not the brake line its the caliper pistons, that drive the calipers out. The brake line may be suffering due to the piston not working.

Open bleeder some pressure, bleeds down can move piston. All new bearings, pins(lubed well), rotor, pads, combo valve centered. Weird problem. Inspection 15 days late. Spending all my tire money to fix. Don't want to play the parts changer mechanic. Just did brakes had the same problem before, thought it was caliper. | | | Re: Front brake hose? | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 233 Likes: 2 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 233 Likes: 2 | Brake hoses can collapse internally and cause brakes to not release. I have seen this on my 1992 g20 and my 1993 ram250. First saw it years ago on my buddies 1978 ford fairmont. Unfortunately, changing front hoses often requires destroying metal lines threaded into them and job grows in magnitude. When tightening hollow hose to caliper bolts to compress copper washer, wait a few seconds and retighten. This allows time for copper to compress under pressure. 1992 Chevy G20, 110" wheelbase, Mark III conversion, L31/4L80e swap, Express wiring harness.

I'm stunned how bad they actually are, I changed the right side and now it pulls to the right. Guess I need to do the drivers side (drivers side brake is weak). I didn't want to do this, I could see all the hard lines breaking. I figured something out though, cut the hose as close as you can at the end put a socket on it and use a good flare wrench on the line. Turn out the hose end instead of the loosening the flare nut. No more twisted broken lines. When it breaks loose it takes the tension out of the flare nut. The good news is that I finally get to put on new rims and tires! | | | Re: Front brake hose? | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 | These lines go bad on Chevys from time to time. Another trick on the seized line fitting is a small pipe wrench right behind the flair nut on the steel tubing along with a little PB blaster pre soak.
