It does sound nice but would I get better performance and better gas mileage if I replaced the Cat with a good muffler?
What single muffler would everyone recommend? I have the 5.2 318 V8, I don't have to worry about emissions.

A matter of prefrence for sure. Each has it's own sound. For what it's worth you can find soundclips that the manufacture posts to give you some ideas. Can buy a lot of gas for the price of an exhaust system lol!
Keep it tuned up and tire pressures right is your best solution there. | | | Re: Need some advice on exhaust system | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 205 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 205 | Well, we on average go through about 4 to 5 tanks of gas a week. We travel constantly. We just went from Atlanta to Orlando, then West Palm Beach and Orlando Again then to Miami and back to Orlando and then we just came up to Chattanooga, and now we are in Evansville,IN and heading to Bloomington,IL tomorrow and then Chicago and Michigan by Christmas. And thats all been in less than 2 weeks. So gas milage is also something I'm looking to improve.
I heard that not having a muffler decreases torque, because it needs some back pressure.

Totally not true.Have you ever seen a monster truck with a muffler or Funny car with a muffler. | | | Re: Need some advice on exhaust system | Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 523 Likes: 1 addict | addict Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 523 Likes: 1 | I agree with Hoagie. Also consider removing the windshield visor and turtle top. Should help a little on the highway anyway. | | |
