Does anyone have a G30 1 ton with a 4L80E trans and a 14-bolt axle in their van? If so, I need you to measure the length of your driveshaft from center of yoke to center of yoke. I am going junkin tomorrow to try to find one that will work. Hopefully I'll find a G30 in the yard, but in case I don't I need a length to look for. Thanks for any help!

I ended up NOT finding any good drive shafts in any yards. Every van had been lifted with a fork lift and the forks had crushed every drive shaft.
I work for a company that designs assembly line machines. It just so happened that we had a drive shaft machine sitting on the floor about ready to go to the customer. So I fired that baby up with the designer and made my own drive shaft. I used a center to center distance of 62". (That is, center of u-joint cup to center to u-joint cup). This worked out very well. I got a brand new aluminum drive shaft with spicer joints for zero dollars! All I paid for was the u-joints down at autozone. I'll take some pictures later today when I crawl under the van to put a new trans filter and gasket in the 4L80E.

Last shaft I had made cost me $250.00 !

However, I did get under there to change the trans fluid and filter. THe bottom of the pan was surprisingly clean. The fluid was a little dirty/brown but not bad really.
Also, I put three cans of freon in the A/C system and it started working again. I found a leak in the low side port valve. I didn't have an evac system so I hooked my gauges up to the low side port to stop the leak and am just driving around with the gauges tucked next to the A/C box lol. I'll figure out how to stop it later. For now, i have a/c! | | |
