I just had my rotors turned on a lathe because I had steering wheel shake when braking. That fixed it. But now when I apply the brakes, the van wants to pull to the left. I'm wondering if its a collapsed brake hose on the right wheel? Any brake guys out there who've had this problem?

Sticky caliper, misadjusted rear drum brakes, one rotor thicker than the other, one drum thicker than the other, leaky rear wheel cylinde….

Windows- they're what make a van worth owning!

I had same problem but pulling to right. I replaced both calipers and brake hoses on front. Fixed it for about $75. It appeared that the old hoses might have been crimped shut from rust expanding the steel clips that keep them in place on the control arms. If you are real low budget you could try carefully cutting clips with cutoff wheel on angle grinder. Spray your brake line nuts that attach to hoses with penetrant oil, clean with small wire brush and spray with penetrant again to avoid twisting lines off. I like your aluminum wheels. Seems like everyone wants black wheels now. When I was growing up only poor people had black wheels. Keep your rear drum brakes adjusted up tight to let front brakes run cooler to avoid warpage and also is safer for faster stopping. You want to just be able to get drums on over the shoes. Its a good idea to put anti_seize on the mating surface of alum wheels to hubs to avoid galvanic corrosion.

I've heard that turning rotors on vans ain't such a good idea since it's about 6k pounds you put on two rotors while braking they'll get crooked again soon

Ahh,

The pulling to one side issue. My van had this from the first day I brought it home. Went through everything: new rotors, new calipers, new pads, cleaned and repacked wheel bearings, bled and re-bled brakes over and over. Pulled both back drums checking for leaks/general operation. Nothing.

Replaced both front flexible brake hose/lines and presto! Problem solved. Hopefully this will save another vanner's wallet from all my trial and error. Although the rotors were too thin to be cut and needed replacement, the pulling to the left issue in my experience was the hoses.

My issue has been solved! replaced the calipers, brake hoses, fresh brake fluid. while I was at it, the pads were replaced and the rotors were "turned". I have some good braking now with no dangerous pull to one side.

Brakes are working great. But there is a single "pop" on the passenger front when I brake now. No effect on the braking but the "pop" is not good. Any ideas??

when you did all the work to the brakes, did you clean the slide pins and lube them ? It should be done EVERY TIME you do the brakes, and a lot of people forget. I have even seen shops forget due to trying to get the job done fast.
