He is NOT a member here, but I knew of a guy in Cheyenne Wyo who did a Olds 455 in a Chebby van, so it is very do able, but you may have to FAB motor mounts. I also THINK they offered the early 700R4 as a B.O.P. trans too, might check into that, no adapta plate needed then ! I think this is a cool idea and look forward to seeing LOTS OF PICS on the build ! HINT HINT ! lol
That sounds intresting too!!Completely diffrent motors, but same idea.
The motor mounts are probaly gonna be the biggest challenge, but no worries there,I'm no stranger to fabbing or welding.
Unfortunately no Ponchos came with 700r4,HOWEVER the 80s cars that came with 2004r's had a dual bolt pattern bell.So you could use them in Chevy's or B/O/P..I don't really want to use one only because theyre way more loot to build, and 700's are a dime a dozen..I've pondered the thought of even doing a 4 speed, like Muncie or Super T10,but that's a big undertaking and it's have to get scrapped when I make her a 4x
Haha on the pics.I promise,I will document everything and post lots of pics.Especially for the fact of maybe encouraging others to do the same swap.I've lived and breathed Pontiacs my whole life.Everybody has chevelles and Comaros,I have GTO's and Tempest's.I love the torque and sound they put out.It would make a killer drivetrain in a van.And diffrent to boot!
