Cost around $1100 and arrived without a hitch. My advice when communicating with the shipper is discuss weight and size, then discuss two more times. We told our shipper the van weighed 6500 lbs. He said no problem. When he arrived, as soon as he jumped out of the truck he explain "God D@!n, that's a heavy beast!" When you combine the service area with the weight things get tricky. Especially if the shipper is primarily an auto transport vs. freight hauler. | | | Re: AUTO TRANSPORT....WTF | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 36 Likes: 1 newbie | OP newbie Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 36 Likes: 1 | Thanks for all the input guys... I appreciate it. We shall see how this goes. Sucks to pay half of what you bought it for to ship a van but I wouldnt sell it for the world. | | | Re: AUTO TRANSPORT....WTF | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,398 old hand | old hand Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,398 | Did you have a hitch when you shipped it? lol | | | Re: AUTO TRANSPORT....WTF | Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 1,091 old hand | old hand Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 1,091 | You can try..reliablecarriers.com..And get a quote | | | Re: AUTO TRANSPORT....WTF | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 2,207 Likes: 1 veteran | veteran Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 2,207 Likes: 1 | Good info. I wonder what the going rate was every time I see something I like on the west coast.
Those prices sound "reasonable" if you quantify the cost of your time + fuel + maybe a plane ticket if you wanted to pick it up and drive it back vs. driving out with an extra driver (and double the return fuel costs).

Big difference in price if I dropped it off at my pad in the burbs. | | | Re: AUTO TRANSPORT....WTF | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 19 stranger | stranger Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 19 | When I bought my van I priced auto transport. It was around 1600 from Idaho to Florida. Me and the wife flew up and bought the van. Then drive 2700 miles back to home. Total cost was about the same. But had great time seeing parts of the country we have never been to. | | | Re: AUTO TRANSPORT....WTF | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | When I bought my van I priced auto transport.
