We shipped our van from Fort Lauderdale to Rhode Island by using UShip.com. Cost around $1100 and arrived without a hitch. My advice when communicating with the shipper is discuss weight and size, then discuss two more times. We told our shipper the van weighed 6500 lbs. He said no problem. When he arrived, as soon as he jumped out of the truck he explain "God D@!n, that's a heavy beast!" When you combine the service area with the weight things get tricky. Especially if the shipper is primarily an auto transport vs. freight hauler.

Thanks for all the input guys... I appreciate it. We shall see how this goes. Sucks to pay half of what you bought it for to ship a van but I wouldnt sell it for the world.

Good info. I wonder what the going rate was every time I see something I like on the west coast.

Those prices sound "reasonable" if you quantify the cost of your time + fuel + maybe a plane ticket if you wanted to pick it up and drive it back vs. driving out with an extra driver (and double the return fuel costs).

I shipped the toy box from Tacoma WA. To Houston Tx for $1200. had a bid in with a broker for $900 and it sat for a month before I called some one else. Bid a price and they picked it up the next day .. we used new world transport great guy and good service. It did take a week to get it but it was a good experience.

Uship.com shipped my 76 G10 from WA to IL and dropped it off at the farm for $900. Big difference in price if I dropped it off at my pad in the burbs.

When I bought my van I priced auto transport. It was around 1600 from Idaho to Florida. Me and the wife flew up and bought the van. Then drive 2700 miles back to home. Total cost was about the same. But had great time seeing parts of the country we have never been to.
