It is gonna cost me about $1000.00 over the next three months, but by spreading it out like this, I don't have to remove food from the family table. ( I hate living on SSI ! )
Any way, here is the list:
1) 4 new tires ( BFG Rugged Trail in 235/75/15 ) $600 2) 4 new shocks ( Monroe Reflex Light Trucks ) $200 3) Strut Rod Bushings $20 4) Trans Mount $10 5) Motor Mounts $10 each 6) Sway bar link & bushing kit $20 7) Tune Up ( plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air & fuel filter ) $100 8) MAYBE replace the U-Joints ( got to check them out and decide ) $16 each
The list is long, but not major. Some of this is being done as preventative, some is needed, a few are BEYOND needed ! lol

Just get a jack under the tail, lift JUST enough to take tension/weight off the mount, loosen bolts, raise about .5 to 1 inch, pull out bad, put in good, settle down the trans, tighten bolts, drive. . . .thats the BASICS of it, but you get the idea.

I plan on trying to build a overhead console too, basic aluminum frame with denim covered panels. We want to add a pair of bench seats and table, that will drop to form a bed also. Until we figure all this out, the stock conversion van interior works for now.
I got the stereo figured out and going now too, It is a little different from MOST systems, but it works great I think. I have a I pod Classic 80Gig, hooked to a Audio Control Overdrive Plus-2 line driver, then to a Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack (45x4 @ 4ohm), then to Alpine 6.5 SPS-610 Type S speakers front and Alpine 6x9 SPS-619 Type S rear. not a hard pounding system, but very clear and easily heard at 75mph with the windows down. So far I have the I-pod, and amp, hooked up to the factory speakers, speaker upgrades are next, then the line driver. I might add a Clarion EQS764 Eq so I can add a second source and have a master volume control too, we shall see on that one. If I add a second source, it will be a Sirius/XM Sat radio.
So many ideas and plans, now I just need $$$$.

Do not buy the cheap DEA motor and trans mounts coming out of India. The rubber that they use is total crap and will fail in under a year. You want NOS or Anchor brand mounts.
Rockauto.com is your friend for cheap parts. Moog for the suspension hard parts, HD rubber for all bushings except sway bar bushings which can be polyurethane (universal off-the-shelf at Autozone).
Windows- they're what make a van worth owning! | | |
