Running to lean can cause per ignition/detonation and can cause damage to the piston.

You will be hard pressed to break 16-17 mpg in any full sized van with a v-8.

With current market prices, I think it would cost you over $2,000 to buy those items separate. Many are no longer available new.

Thanks Reed. I think I'm gonna see what I can do to get hold of this van regardless of rust issues.

You won't be sorry. That floor rust shouldn't be too expensive or difficult to repair.

Good luck with it. Sounds like you got a lot of plans for it. Nice.

I pulled the trigger. She's on her way here. ETA 3pm CST. I'll try and get some good pics posted tonight.

Yay! It needs some work, but I think you won't be sorry.

My 88 came from South Carolina. The only noticeable rust on it was the surface rust on the roof caused by sun damage. I found out that the windshield had been leaking for quite a while and the water laid on the floor boards under the rubber mat or carpet (it was removed when I got it) and rotted there. There isn't any rust anywhere in the rest of the van. I hope yours turns out that way too, and can't wait to see some more pics!

Well it's a good thing she has a lot of cool parts, because the rust is BAD.

Despite the rust, I am not upset. I bought it knowing she might just be a parts supplier, and that's the decision I have made. All of this rust might be salvageable to some one with the right experience and schedule, but this is not something I'm going to tackle.

I'll be getting a few temp wheels/tires tommorow to get her into my back yard. She'll stay there until I have a good clean builder ready to accept her transplants.

Ouch. Well, the good news is you can pick any Ford from 75 to 91 to swap parts onto.
