The 5.2ltr motor in my van is rattling in a bad way. It has been for quite awhile. So it is time for a new motor and a increase in displacement to boot.

I just picked up a 99 Durango 5.9ltr from a local yard for $300. It will be rebuilt from top to bottom. The heads are going to the Cylinder head shop I use and the block and rest will be sent out to another local builder.

Cant wait to get started. Would really like to be around 325hp when done.

I did a V6 swap to a 360 swap. Was super simple, I highly recommend. Huge performace gain at least from the V6 setup. I recommend you keep the SMPI technology! You'll never have to worry about jetting or tuning, and fuel efficient will be much better, as will cold weather performance and start-up. Have fun!

I fully plan to keep the factory fuel injection. I plan to use a power programer with a 5.9 ECU. With what ever mild cam I choose I want to make the most power/torque I can.

That said the heads are at the machine shop as of two weeks ago. There is one crack on one head(between intake and exhaust valve). If the heads end up costing to much I will be looking for Edlebrock heads instead.

Has anyone used the Edlebrock heads on a Magnum motor?

Not sure if I need to go that route but I really want to be around 300-325hp when done. I think that with a mild cam, Air gap intake, Headers and exhaust it should be possible.

I recommend a little exhaust port work on the heads if nothing else. Easily should be able to make 325 horsepower. Unless you mean 325 hp to the wheels, then that's another story. lol. My 360 made 340 to the wheels, but it wasn't for everyone for sure! smile

Good luck with your build and keep us updated! smile I like the look of your van in the signature.
