recommendations on steering and suspension parts brand | Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 150 member | OP member Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 150 | So I am looking to start buying up everything front end suspension and steering related for my 95 g20. I know that there are several manufacturers out there today. When I was in college working in a parts store MOOG was pretty much the brand to buy, especially their problem solver stuff. Is that thw case today? Im probably going to purchase the stuff from rock auto. They offer stuff from ac delco which is sometimes twice the price, and some other brands which run about the same.
Also anyone have experience with KYB monomax shocks? The c10 guys seem to really like them. I would prefer a stiffer more handling ride anyways. My plan is to use 2" drop spindles and gice the van sort of a nose down stance. | | | Re: recommendations on steering and suspension parts brand | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 233 Likes: 2 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 233 Likes: 2 | Moog is a quality brand that is as good or better than oem. Use code p20 on the advance auto site for 20% off. Free ship to home after $75. Whatever i dont replace you will wish you had. I had an outer tie rod pull apart on my 92 while driving it on a back road. A miracle kept us from wrecking. Definitely do the inner and outer tie rods and ball joints unless they have been done already. 1992 Chevy G20, 110" wheelbase, Mark III conversion, L31/4L80e swap, Express wiring harness.

Going to have the parts painted including the old control arms to chassis black. Since the brakes will be off those will get done as well. My goal is to try and make this 20 year old van as close to new as possible for my road trips, id rather not worry about being stuck somewhere. | | | Re: recommendations on steering and suspension parts brand | Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 12,898 Vanner | Vanner Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 12,898 | Moog or offshore, no choice in my mind...

If you are going whole-hog and replacing the steerin ggearbox, I highly recommend http://www.redheadsteeringgears.com They are in Seattle but ship worldwide. I have used their steering gears twice with no complaints.
Windows- they're what make a van worth owning! | | | Re: recommendations on steering and suspension parts brand | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 514 Likes: 55 addict | addict Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 514 Likes: 55 | http://fme-cat.com/Application.aspx?year=1984&make=CHEVROLET&model=G20&brand=MOOG%20Steering%20%26%20Suspension&ga=Y
Try this link for numbers and description. Funny the more I did research the more I found they used this front end from like 71? to 95 on everything from P Trucks, suburbans, Pickups, some cars use the control arms!! Mini trucks. This was GM's front end for alot of things. Parts that are discontinued are still available and cross reference to other vehicles. Example no more new lower arms, yet still available for C20,30 and are the same. Problemsolver parts look to be worth the extra money, They fix the factory screw ups. Moog makes a upper ball joint to with more movement to stop the bind on travel. I didn't realize they put that much effort into it. The cheap 25$ ball joints at parts house don't make it 30k miles. | | | Re: recommendations on steering and suspension parts brand | Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 150 member | OP member Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 150 | Jcd74 I did notice that they didnt have new lower arms, but everything else?
So I gather that my 95 g20 will use the lowering spindles for a 87 c20 and lower control arms for a 87 c20 will also work? | | | Re: recommendations on steering and suspension parts brand | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 514 Likes: 55 addict | addict Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 514 Likes: 55 | I wrote all this down somewhere. I spent a couple of hours comparing parts numbers for models (C and G) that share the same parts. If you change models (c10,20 ect.) and select Moog steering in brands it brings up parts list. If you click on part check applications and it will bring up all trucks that use same part. Keep looking and you will find your part. they sell loaded arms new with everything that just bolt on. I do have a wish list on Summit that may have the part #'s. I can't find that paper I'm pissed because I spent so much time on it.
